SANDBLASTING
Method of Work 2
Sandblasting Purpose
a. Exposing slab to check the existing crack
b. Surface preparation/ roughening substrate concrete for FRP application
Surface Preparation
a. Performance from externally bonded fiber reinforcement is mainly related to the stress transfer between
concrete and CFRP (no crack allowed)
b. The bonding surface of the concrete shall be mechanically prepared so as to create enough roughness
and to eliminate the surface layer that generally provides little cohesion.
c. Surface mechanical preparation can be undertaken by sandblasting

Method of Work 2
Injection Purpose
a. To fill crack in structural concrete (Sikadur®-752)
b. To seal parts using adhesive (Sikadur®-31 CF Normal)
Method of Work 2
Sikadur®-31 CF Normal
1. Mix components A+B together for at least 3 minutes with a mixing spindle until the material
becomes smooth in consistency and a uniform grey colour.
2. Then, pour the whole mix into a clean container and stir again for approx. 1 more minute at low
speed to keep air entrapment at a minimum.
3. Mix only that quantity which can be used within its potlife (30 minutes)
4. Fill the V-shaped notch with Sikadur® -31 CF Normal by using a with a spatula, trowel, notched
trowel, putty knife (or with hands protected by gloves) to a maximum thickness of 30 mm per
application.

Method of Work 2
Sikadur®-752
1. Pre-mix each component. Proportion 2 part Component A to 1 part Component B into a clean pail.
2. Mix thoroughly for 3 minutes with a paddle on low – speed (400-600 rpm) drill until uniformly blended.
Mix only quantity that can be used within its pot life (35 minutes)
3. Inject Sikadur® -752 with a one component injection pump.
4. Wait until the injection material appears at the next nipple, then seal the first nipple.
5. Move to the next packer and continue injection along the crack.

2. Cutting
a. Fabric are cut at their prescribed lengths in advanced of the mixing of the resin
b. Place a tape before cutting the fabric
c. Do not fold the fabric

3. Resin Application
a. Mixing the Estowrap Primer (to ensure substrate consolidation) for 2-3 minutes using paddle until
uniformly blended
b. Apply Estowrap Primer into concrete and wait for 12 hours
c. Mixing and apply the Estowrap Resin

4. Install the Estowrap with roller
a. Using a hard roller, press the fabric against the substrate until visual signs of resin are observed
bleeding through the fabric (the fabric has to be firmly pressed onto the substrate to make the glue
impregnate the fibers and eliminate any air bubbles)

PATCHING AND
GROUTING
25
25
Method of Work 3
To restore dimensions as a result of spalling or delamination of concrete structures by carrying out patching or
grouting work. New concrete that is placed or inserted into the concrete structure must be able to attach
properly.
Notes:
Concrete with the same or higher quality than the concrete to be replaced

5. Grouting
Sikagrout® FM 215: is a non-shrink, cementitious grout
a. Pre-wet the substrate thoroughly with clean water to a saturated surface dry condition
b. Add the dry powder of Sikagrout® FM 215 to clean water
c. When pouring Sikagrout® FM 215, make sure there is a continuous flow of the grout and no
entrapment of air by knocking lightly on the formwork.
d. Minimum thickness for application is 10 mm, and maximum is 100 mm per pour (Recommended is
20 mm to 50 mm)
