Introductory Message
For the Facilitator:

Welcome to the Media and Information Literacy for Grade 12 Alternative


Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on Media Literacy ,Information Literacy and
Technology Literacy .

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by


educators from public institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping
the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their
personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and
independent learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also
aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this
module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to
manage their own learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist
the learners as they do the tasks included in the module.

Welcome to the Media and Information Literacy Alternative Delivery Mode


(ADM) Module on Media Literacy ,Information Literacy and Technology Literacy.

In open community, there is now an appeal for enlightening a combination of


media literacy and information literacy. Media literacy is considered to be a
sequence of communication competencies. While these descriptions look different,
they address similar purposes, including critically engaging with media messages
and increasing the capacity to access, comprehend, analyze, practice, and generate
media products. Likewise, Information literacy is the ability of an individual to identify
their information needs, detect and evaluate the quality of information, make
operational and proper use of information. Although media literacy and information
literacy look like two distinct fields, both concepts share the common objective of
cultivating people’s ability to access, understand, use, and create media messages
or information.

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You
will be enabled to process the contents of the learning resource while being an active
learner.
What I Need to Know

In this module the media literacy, information literacy and technology literacy
will be tackled along with how they are define and what concept they serve as, and
also their similarities and differences .This module also shares the learners the ability
to use technology in the digital environment. Then help them to understand the basic
forms of media, that media literate can be able to evaluate and analyze media and
enable young people in particular to become more careful consumers of media.
Then, it also teaches us to use information and media content in an ethical, efficient
and effective manner

For the learner

The development of digital technology is a key factor for combining media


literacy and information literacy.

This topic introduces the learners to basic understanding of media and


information as channels of communication and aims to develop students to be critical
thinkers and competent producers of media and information.

At the end of this module, you are expected to:

1. define the key concepts (media, information and technology literacy)


2. identifies the similarities and differences of media literacy, information literacy
and technology literacy; and
3. realize the importance of critical thinking in media literacy, information literacy
and technology literacy.

Lesson Identifies the Similarities and Differences
of Media Literacy, Information Literacy
2 and Technology Literacy

Media and information rises every single day and it becomes so abundant that
it can be found anywhere, anytime especially in the booming era of data and
information outburst. Suitable media and information literate individuals will examine
our patience on how we agree with information. Respect for info’s need means we
allow each and every one to express their ideas, opinions and expressions fully
without any judgment or bias.

When we discourse about media which means the main means of


communication and designates the three classificationso like print media, broadcast
media, outdoor or out of home media and internet.It includes also information and
communicatiom and technology literacy which clear as a set of comptetencies that
enables citizen to access, retieve , undertand and evaluate and use various tools , in
a critical , ethical and effective way in order to participate and engage in personal
and societal activities .

These literacies connected or related to each other in this case: a media


literate is able to understand the basic convention of media;evaluate and analyze
media create media ,help us control media in a literate set and enable young people
in particular to become more careful consumers of media. Then, information literacy
is able to: know what info is needed, get info’s quickly and easily to evaluate info’s
and sources and show info’s ethically and legally while technology literature is able
to has the ability to use technology in the digital environment, possess critical
thinking skills in using computer networks, knowledge the basic principles of
computing devices and be able to find, capture and evaluate information’s.

Ponder on this. You wake up one day to find no internet, libraries, and cellphones,
newspapers, magazines, radio stations and TV channels. Answer
the following questions in 1 to 2 sentences. Write your answers in
your notebook.

1. How would you be informed of anything now?


2. What ways would you have to communicate with one another?
3. How would you share informatino and communicate news and events?
4. How would it affect the way you live?
5. What would you personally miss most in such a situation?

Create your own slogan in defining what media, information and technology
literacy in your own words and plan.

Example: “Use Media to create not to mimic.”

Design your own slogan based on your concept elements and principles you
have learned in the previous lesson. Use a short bond paper to draw your slogan.

3. Some people might say that you are humorless or you are too serious, that is
