Introduction

We know that due to climate changes and global warming advances, level of sea rises

gradually, which leads to heavy rain, severe hurricanes tsunami, flooding and other

natural disasters. Therefore there is need to adopt effective countermeasure against

these disasters especially flooding. Regarding this, concept of Amphibious House has

been adopted, in which it refers to structures that will function both in land and water in

response to flood in low lying areas, (IRJET, 2019).

Amphibious houses are situated above the water and are designed to float when the

water levels rise. It is usually fastened to flexible mooring posts and rest on concrete

foundations. The main characteristics of the amphibious house were the steel frame

that holds the flotation blocks. And the most special characteristics about these kinds of

houses are the metal sliders as vertical guidance poles that are attached to the steel

frame allowing the house to move up and down.

The concept of Amphibious houses are adaptive to rising water levels, that they are

very effective in dealing floods. It prevents the ongoing difficulties of the people affected

by floods as well as providing the society an economical solution for flood mitigation.

Statement of the Problem

The research entitled "Amphibious House: Metal slider as an innovative device

for flood resistant shelters" aims to answer the following questions:

1. What are the alternative materials that are appropriate and durable to used for

amphibious house?
2. What are the advantages of Amphibious House: Metal slider as an innovative device

used for flood resistant shelters?

3. What are the possible final impact of amphibious house to the society?
