Basketball came to

existence through the

initiative of Dr. James
Naismith.

It was first played in 1891 at

Springfield, Massachusetts,
YMCA

The first ball used was a

soccer football.
The first baskets were peach
baskets suspended from
traditional running track of so
many gymnasiums built in that
period.

The height of the baskets was

determined by the running
track of or balcony height.

The first team had nine

players:
3 forwards
3 centers
3 guards
Basketball was introduced in
France in 1893, in England in
1894, in Australia, China, and
India soon thereafter, and in Japan
in 1900.

Basketball was first used in the

Olympic Games in 1936 in Berlin
where the United States toyed
with all oppositions.
Originally, players wore one of
three styles of uniforms: knee-
length football trousers; jersey
tights, as commonly worn by
wrestlers; or short padded pants,
forerunners of today’s uniforms,
plus knee guards.

Professional NBA and FIBA
leagues use basketballs with
circumferences of 29.5 inches,
which are full-sized balls
appropriate for players ages 12
and older. The official size for
WMBA basketballs is 28.5 inches
in circumference.
The basketball board is made of 3 cm thick
wood or of a suitable transparent material,
such as acrylic or plastic glass. The basketball
board is 180 centimeters long and 120
centimeters wide.
The board is 275 centimeters high from the
floor surface to the bottom of the board and is
120 centimeters perpendicular to the distance
from the center point of the finish line of the
court.
The rings were made of hard iron and
the diameter of the rings was 45
centimeters. The ring height is 305
centimeters from the floor surface and is
installed on the surface of the basketball
board with a distance of 15 centimeters.
Meanwhile, the net is hung from the
ring, with a net length of 40 centimeters.
It is a rectangle with dimensions of 28
meters long and 15 meters wide as
measured from the edge of the
boundary line. In a basketball court,
there are several dividing lines such as
the three-point zone semicircle line and
the free-throw line.
Is an important skill for all
basketball players. This skill
will allow you to move up
and down the court,
maneuver past defenders
and execute plays.

to get past an
opponent.
The move occurs when
a player dribbles the
ball behind their back
from one hand to
another.
A dribble between
the legs from one
hand to the other.
As its name suggests,
low dribble just means
that you must keep
the ball bouncing low
nearest to the floor.
Because you are on the court
with four other players from your
team at all times, it is incredibly
important to be able to
effectively pass the ball, even if
you are not a point guard trying
to accumulate assists.

A bounce pass is also
thrown from the passer’s
chest to the receiver’s chest,
but it is bounced in between
the two players.

Dunk
A slam dunk, also simply known
as dunk, is a type of basketball shot
that is performed when a player
jumps in the air, controls the ball
above the horizontal plane of the
rim, and scores by shoving the ball
directly through the basket with one
or both hands. It is a type of field
goal that is worth two points.
