A. Reviewing the Previous Lesson or Presenting the New Lesson
A blessed morning. How are you today? Great! This is your second week of
adventure in English for the last quarter. I’m sure it is full of fun and
excitement! You will learn more about words with short vowel sounds that
can improve your reading ability in English. So what are you waiting for?
Sit back and enjoy as you do the different activities for this week’s lesson.
To begin with your lesson, sing the ABC song. You can watch the video

B. Establishing a Purpose for the Lesson
For this week’s lesson, you will learn more about words with short vowel
sounds and you are expected to do the following:
answer wh-questions about the story;
identify pictures and match them with short vowel sound words;
differentiate words with different vowel sounds; and
write the names of pictures with short a, e, i, o and u words.
Last week, you have learned about the sounds and names of the letters of the
alphabet and how to read words with short e, a, i, o, and u sound in CVC
pattern. Now I want you to read a short story with the help of your parent or
somebody. Then, after reading the story answer the questions below orally.

Some CVC words change their meaning and spelling by just changing the medial sound
or letter.
For example the word cop means policeman but when you change the
medial o to u sound, the word becomes cup which means a drinking container with
handle. Other examples are map-mop, fan-fun, ten-tin, and bag-beg.
