RELEVANCE/RATIONALE: Presentation of ideas to ones colleagues is an essential skill in today’s


world. This activity helps to unlock new and creative ways to do that.

FORMATIVE ASSESMENT: a fully produced Fractured Fairytale in picture book format (see
rubric).

SEQUENCE
 Teacher introduces fairytale format (Faerie Tale Theatre The Frog Prince)
 Read aloud The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales. Journal response.
 Solo or pairs for project; what Fairytales do you know? Choose one as a team.
 Research the Fairytale; read the real/official story (not the Disney adaptation)
 Plot your fracture of the story
 Write the narrative and dialogue
 Draw the pictures
 Produce the book
 Share the book in Reading Room
