Revision - Form 1 Topic - Subtraction of Light 1
Aim: To study the effects of primary and secondary coloured filters on white and coloured
light
Procedure:
1. Place the red filter at position X in between the torch and the screen.
2. Switch on the torch and direct the light to pass through the coloured filter.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 by using green and blue filters, and the pairs of filters listed in the
table.
Red - Red
Green - Green
Blue - Blue
Based on your observations, state one reason when light is directed towards:
a) a red filter
Red light that passes through the red filter is absorbed by the green filter.
A yellow filter only allows yellow, green and red lights to pass through it. The blue light
that passes through the blue filter is absorbed by the yellow filter, causing no light is
formed on the screen.
