positive effect on student’s learning outcomes and the school environment.
With cellphones, students can be notified on what are the happenings
around them. For example, if there was a fire near the school, they can be
alerted and they can be ready to evacuate. It can also be used for
emergency purposes where you need your parents, you can call them
quickly through your cellphones. Cellphones may also be used as a cure
for the boredom of students.
Cellphones have both positive and negative effects in terms of the
learning of the students that can lead to addiction. Cellphone addiction is
really bad especially to students as it interferes with their learning process.
This leads to schools forbidding cellphones inside the classroom. However,
cellphones actually have beneficial uses inside the school. According to
Thomas and O'Bannon (2014) the device's capabilities were useful
educational tools. Therefore, cellphones should not be banned in schools.
According to Peter Twining (2018), banning mobile phones will not stop
them from being used, it will simply push that use underground. Schools
have a duty to prepare young people to live in the world outside the
learning environment. Mobile phones are a fundamental part of life and
schools should be helping young people make appropriate and effective
use of phones.
