CCRM 4013 ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES (SEMESTER I)


4.1 Study Proposal
4.1.1 Type of Assessment Study Proposal
4.1.2 Time of Submission 20th week of Semester 1
4.1.3 Weightage 40%
4.1.4 Pages /words 1,500 -2,000 words
4.2 Learning Outcomes:
i. Apply knowledge of research process in health sciences.
ii. Review literature to identify problem, formulate research design and support discussion.
iii. Design study methods for study proposal.
iv. Demonstrate critical thinking and academic writing skills.
4.3 Instructions to Candidates:
1. This project requires students to work individually and need to submit one copy of report by
20th week of Semester 1.
2. Weightage allocated to this project is 40%.
3. The write-up shall be 1500 – 2000 words. Word count is not inclusive of title page and
references.
4. The student shall be required to obtain the name of their suggested project supervisor from
the course coordinator / assigned lecturer.
5. Students are advised to plan with the project supervisor regarding schedule and phases for
appropriate guidance.
6. The proposal write-up shall be 1500–2000 words. Word count is not inclusive of title page
and references. It shall be presented using the format below:
6.1 Title page should contain the following:
a. Name of the ILKKM
b. Course Code
c. Project Title
d. Name & Matrix number of the student
e. Name of supervisor
f. Date of submission
6.2 Assignment must type written and adhere to the following:
a. A4 size white paper
b. Font Times New Roman, size 12
c. Line spacing 1.5
d. Binding
7. The Project write-up submitted must have the following:
7.1. Chapter 1 Introduction
7.1.1 Background to the study
7.1.2 Problem statement
7.1.3 Objectives of the study
7.1.4 Research questions
7.1.5 Research hypotheses (at least 1)
7.1.6 Significance of the study
7.1.7 Definitions of terms
7.2. Chapter 2 Review of Literature
7.2.1 Review of relevant studies
7.2.2 Conceptual framework
7.3. Chapter 3 Methodology
7.3.1 Design of the study
7.3.2 Population and sampling
7.3.3 Research instrumentation
7.3.4 Data collection procedures
7.3.5 Proposed framework for data analysis
7.3.6 Ethical consideration
7.3.7 Limitations of the study
7.4. References
7.5. Appendices
4.4. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. Any reproduction from other publications must be properly
referenced. If plagiarism is detected, the assignment will be rejected and a fail grade shall be
given. The student shall be required to redo it within the stated timeframe.

4.5 Instructions To Supervisors (Appointed Lecturer / Course Coordinator ):


i. The project is an individual. Students shall conduct the project on the topic / area of
study relevant to field of study.
ii. Plan with students regarding schedule and phases for appropriate guidance and
supervision.
iii. A hard copy of the Project Proposal related to health issues shall be submitted
by the student on the 20th week of Semester I to the identified assessor. The
presentation shall be done on 22nd or 23rd week of Semester 1
iv. Weightage allocated to this assignment is 40%.
v. Assess the student’s write-up based on the “Marking Guide” of study proposal.
