Florida Department of Economic Opportunity

The Florida Department of Economics is charged with aiding the governor in boosting

Florida's economy through championing state economic development visions. It also raises the

state's economy by implementing federal and state projects and programs that benefit its citizens,

businesses, communities, and visitors. Unemployment insurance provides the broad goals of

assisting Florida citizens with finding employment when they are unemployed, which can be

done through training with the Florida source of career centers and monetary assistance (DEO).

A person can be eligible for these programs when the person lost their job. They lost their jobs

because it was never their fault; they were never terminated for misconduct in workplaces nor

did not leave their jobs for a personal reason (Department of Unemployment Assistance). Lastly,

when they submit their applications, they should have earned a certain amount of money in the

first twelve months, which are the primary periods for the previous fifteen months.

Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security were implemented on 27th March 2020,

and it is commonly identified as The CARES Act. The CARES Act increases the number of

eligible people for reemployment assistance beneficts. Those beneficts can now be paid starting

from the day the person becomes eligible under the CARES Acts. There are two programs under

the CARES Acts: the Federal Epidemic Unemployment compensation program (FEUI) and

Reemployment assurance programs. The Federal Epidemic Unemployment Initiative is an

emergency program designed to aid American citizens who have lost their employments due to

the Covid 19 pandemic. Individuals with little or no experience, independent contractors, and

self-employed people can benefit from these programs (DEO). People who have been openly

affected by Covid and have lost their jobs may be eligible for the FPU. Furthermore, people

considered providers in their families after the head passed away due to Covid 19. Those who

were supposed to start working but never started due to Covid 19 outbreak can be eligible.

PUA stands for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, a new form of short-term

unemployment insurance for people who cannot work owing to Covid 19 and are not qualified

for conventional unemployment compensation. For people who cannot work due to issues

associated with Covid 19 and do not qualify for prolonged or consistent unemployment benefits,

the PUA gives up to seventy-nine weeks of joblessness reimbursements (Florida Department of

Economic Opportunity). This program is suitable for self-employed people, independent

contractors, and those not eligible for tea UI beneficts. People who have resigned from their jobs

owing to Covid 19 effects, those infected with Covid 19 symptoms, and seek a diagnosis are

qualified for the programs (Department of Unemployment Assistance). Also, those whose family

members have been diagnosed with Covid 19and have inadequate employment records and have

been directly impacted by Covid 19 are all qualified for the PUA program.

People who have lost their employment might receive temporary financial support

through the Reemployment Assistance program. Individuals laid off due to their employer's

necessity to temporarily close down or segregate employees due to Covid 19 may be entitled to

benefits (DEO). Benefits for reemployment assistance are financed by a dedicated tax paid by

your previous employer. As an employee, you are not responsible for any of the perks or taxes.

Individual earnings determine their eligibility for benefits. A person must be able and willing to

take a full-time job to be eligible for benefits
