EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Birds farming is one of the leading trends in Pakistan and specially in recent years birds
farming industry has grown rapidly. It has become a key source of income earning in
Pakistan for unemployed labor. The potential of this industry is even more in urban
areas such as Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Islamabad. The major product
of this project includes Canary Bird which is widely known as love birds. More
specifically the birds include different species of Java, Albino and lutino personata /
common lutino. At Initial phase there are 6 pairs in total of birds which includes 2
breeding pairs of white java, 1 breeding pair of silver java, 1 breeding pair of silver and
grey java, 1 breeding pair of Albino red and black eye split and 1 pair of common lutino.

The most critical factors for the success of birds farming are following;

• The location where birds are kept needs to be suitable for birds, so it can result
in maximum output.
• It is suggested to adopt International Guidelines for feeding and watering, and at
the same time giving equal importance to lighting and breeding.
• Special attention is required in health management of birds.
• The source of feed and medicines should be procured from reliable sources.

CRITICAL FACTORS

A detailed description of the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats

(SWOT analysis) is as follows;
• STRENGTHS
- Our business involves comparatively low capital requirement as we don’t have to buy
the birds repetitively like inventory in other businesses if they breed positively
- Our business is majorly labor intensive and does not require for capital intensive
machines etcetera.
- Our profit margin is decent especially if we are able to achieve mutation.
• WEAKNESSES
- Intensive care of birds is required especially in their breeding season.
- The birds are delicate & sensitive to environment and there is always
possibility of damage.
- People mostly prefer buying birds from a physical marketplace.
- Mating attempts can fail as the birds might fight other and cause serious damage as
the birds are overprotective when it comes to their nests and chicks.
• OPPORTUNIES
- If the birds are kept with delicacy and care, they might breed effectively
- There is a high demand for birds within and outside Pakistan.
- Birds with mutation or quality breeds can fetch incredibly high price in the market.
• THREATS
-Diseases are common and may harm birds.
- Markets are saturated with bird sellers

GEOGRAPHICAL POTENTIAL FOR INVESTMENT

Our business can attract huge potential clients from all over Pakistan especially from
the developed cities except Karachi of such as Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar,
Faisalabad, Quetta etc... As raising birds is a hobby for many people all across
Pakistan. If our business reaches a point where we are able to breed high quality and
rare birds, we can also export birds outside of Pakistan to people who are exhibitionist
and like to collect rare and high-quality birds.

8 POTENTIAL TARGET CUSTOMERS / MARKETS

Our protection target market for our business would be household customers who have
a hobby of bird keeping. We’ll also try to target people who have kids especially
because a lot of kids prefer birds as their pets. We will also try to target breeder farms
and retail stores in the future to expand our primary target market. Moreover, in recent
years the birds farming is increasing to a large scale which opens an opportunity for
exporting birds to different countries.
