Formative Parody Ad- LTHS

An ad is designed to sell something- whether it is a product, service, or idea. Consider the print ads that
you have seen and the features that they contain: images, color, and catchy slogans.

For this parody activity you will create a PARODY of a print ad for LTHS.

What will you choose to focus on in your ad? What will you be persuading people to do--go to school
here? Buy something associated with our school? Will you be selling an idea?

What aspects of our school will you exaggerate, and make fun of? Which comedic devices can you use
to do this?

Success Criteria:
● Should incorporate elements from LTHS and therefore relatable
● Try to make your piece look as much like the medium you are parodying as possible (a
REAL print ad)
● Incorporate humor/incongruity
● Exaggerates key aspects of the original (exaggerate elements from LTHS or elements of ads)
● SHOULD HAVE A MESSAGE/JOKE- what are you making fun of?
● MUST BE SCHOOL APPROPRIATE

Requirements:
- Use the JAMBOARD SLIDE (you can also create it on a separate platform and copy/paste to the
slide)
- Use COLOR, IMAGES, TEXT
- You must use/reference aspects of the book
- PUT YOUR NAMES ON IT IN THE CORNER
- You will work together--but I will give each of you the formative grade/feedback to help you
prepare for the summative. I will post your feedback on CANVAS.
