IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS

LAW DAYS 2021: TABULATION

1. The Tabulation Board is composed of six (6) student members, headed by a

Chairperson.
2. Each year level shall be represented by one member. The sixth member and
chairperson shall be the SLSC Auditor.
3. For events that require judges to determine the winner (e.g., Wannabe contest), the
“rank system” will be implemented. In this system, the contestants will be ranked
according to the scores given by each judge. Then the final ranks will be determined
based on the average of the ranks (not on the raw scores) given by the judges. In the
case of a tie (see SAMPLE 1), the contestants will obtain the same points for the
overall tabulation. However, for the purposes of awarding, the tie will be broken by
looking at the raw scores of the contestants. The contestant with raw scores that is
nearer to the highest score given by each judge will be given the higher place for the
awarding (in the event that the committee in charge of the event has set guidelines
on how to break the tie, the tie-breaking scheme in this document will not be
followed).
4. For the overall scores, the computation is based on the following categories opposite
the weighting system:

Literary 35.00%
Sports 31.00
Laro ng Lahi 10.00
Special Events 24.00
TOTAL 100.00

In order to adhere to this year’s Law Days, points shall be given per year level. The
announcement of winners shall be based on the accumulated points relative to the
percentage weight. The following table shows the weight distribution for each event,
as well as the maximum points attainable:

5. The Year Level garnering 1st to 5th rank in an event gets a percentile that is directly
related to its rank and to the number of teams participating in that event. The
following table simplifies the computation:
RANK PARTICIPATING TEAMS PERCENTILE
1st 1-5 100.00%
2nd 5 80.00
4 75.00
3 66.67
2 50.00
3rd 5 60.00
4 50.00
3 33.33
4th 5 40.00
4 25.00
5th 5 20.00

6. Above table has the following basic formulation:

a. Each team initially shares an equal proportion, S, in the percentile rating scheme
S = (1 / NP) * 100
where:
NP = Total Number of Participating Teams
Example:
For 5 participating teams, each team initially shares 1/5 x 100 = 20.0000% of the
total percentile mark.

b. The team gets a multiplying factor, K, of the share, based on its competitiveness,
as determined by its rank and the number of competing teams. The multiplying factor
K can be computed using the formula:
K = NP - (rank -1)
Example:
For a team garnering 2nd place in an event with 5 participating teams,
K = 5 - (2-1) = 4.
Hence, the corresponding percentile mark = 4* 20.0000 = 80.0000% (see table
above).
c. The lesser the number of teams participating in an event, the lesser becomes the
degree of competitiveness; and hence, lower percentile mark (e.g., compare 2nd
place with 5 competing teams (80.0000%) to that with 8 competing teams
(87.5000%).

7. Year Level that did not participate in an event automatically shall get a zero-
percentile mark.
