Measure to Measure’s lesson on Justice, Morality, and Mercy

Normal, Illinois- With summer approaching, audiences will be able to see the historical
Shakespeare production Measure to Measure at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. This
production centers around Angelo, the Duke’s surrogate, as he enforces a strict moral code on
sex.
Measure to Measure’s preview will be on June 2 at 8 p.m. and opening night will begin on June
3 at 8 p.m. at the Ewing theatre. Tickets are available by calling the box office at (309) 438-

Measure to Measure is a story that involves the themes of justice, morality, and mercy. Taken
place in Vienna, everyone is in an uproar from the rules Angelo has enforced. However, Angelo
cannot follow this code himself. He instead uses his power to make Isabella exchange her
chastity for her brother Claudio’s life.
The team at Illinois Shakespeare Festival know the safety and health of those attending and
performing are a top priority. Current guidelines allow 25% capacity and will require people to
keep 6 feet. Illinois Shakespeare Festival will continue to evaluate the seating map as guidelines
are updated. As of right now tickets are available in ‘pods’ of 1, 2, and 3 reserved seats with 6
feet between each pod.
Mainstage performance ticket prices are $25 and preview performance tickets are $15. Student
rush and group sales tickets will not be available for the 2021 season. Gift certificates will also
