INTERMEDIATE ETUDES FOR BASS TROMBONE The Bass Trombone is probably the most altered and improved instrument to come along in the last fifty years. The many combinations of valve and slide positions has done much to improve the playing skill of the artist. The dreaded B natural of old has now become just another good note on the horn. I hope the word ‘Intermediate’ is not misleading in the fact that one might expect “Intermediate Etudes’ to be busy and uninteresting. Far from it. This book is full of most of the musical traps that befall all of us at one time or another. There is an Etude for every mood; ballad, blues, jazz waltz, and one with many, many, time signature changes; along with single, double, and triple tonguing exer- cises. You name it! After all, why shouldn’t you be exposed to all the ups and downs of the wonderful world of the Bass Trombone.
