CHAPTER II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter provides some related studies and literature, which helped

the proponents in their study and inspired them to innovate existing studies.

Foreign Related Studies

A study of Encinas, C et al., 2017 developed a Design and Implementation

of a distributed IoT System that uses an actual device all over the world that are

now connected through internet (Internet of Things) which can be controlled

through web access that monitor the quality of the pond. This project also has

wireless sensors to monitor the water levels that is needed for the fishes to

survive.

The similarity of the system mentioned and the proposed system is the

use of web access to control and monitor the pond.

The difference of their study is the technologies and methods of making

the system.

A study of A. Junaidi et al., 2020 is a Design of Pond Water Quality

Monitoring System Based on Internet of Things and Pond Fish Market in Real-

Time to Support the Industrial Revolution 4.0 that utilizes any physical sensors or
devices throughout that are now connected to the internet (Internet of Things).

The use of their system is to control the sensors and sending water levels to the

main system. It also sends the water level information of the pond to the owner.

The similarity of their study and the proposed system is the use of web

access to control and monitor the pond.

The difference between both system is the NoSQL method they use to

store data in their database. The proponents will be using MySQL for their

database. The proponents will not be sending any data to any marketplace

because it is not included in the proponents’ study.

A study of Ngueku , 2014 developed Water Monitoring of Fish Ponds was

about monitoring the fish in the pond and give a good water quality for the fish.

It also shows the reasons why fishes in some ponds are dying. They have

concluded that the water quality of the fish pond is needed to be improved and

have a right level on temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, and ammonia

for the fish safety as well increase in productivity can be assured. This project

guide about the water level needed for the proponents’ study to be successful.
Local Related Study

The students of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Mapua

University was developed a Water Quality Monitoring System Using 3G Network

that can monitor the water quality of the Wawa Dam in Province and Pasig River

in Metro Manila. They used Python as Programming language and MySQL as

database to develop the system (Ibarra, Caya, Andal, Magno, Soc, Villaruel,

Villeza and Zaliman, 2018).

The similarity of the system and the proposed system is the use of

monitoring the basic data parameters such as water temperature, ph level and

turbidity that can be measured through electronic sensors.

The differences between both systems is that the proposed system did not

use 3G Wireless Network and Solar Energy. We will be using Local Area

Network (LAN) and electrical energy is from the respondent’s corporation.

The Design and Implementation of Real-Time Mobile-based Water

Temperature Monitoring System aimed to develop a system that can monitor the

real-time current water temperature using mobile-web. It also displayed the latest

water temperature monitored by the sensor and updated automatically base on

the latest temperature recorded. They used Python, HTML, CSS, PHP and

JavaScript as programming language and PostgreSQL as database that can

store and retrieved data by means of Rest API to develop the system (Bokingkito

& Llantos, 2018).

The similarities of the system mentioned and the proposed system is the

use of same sensor that can monitor the water temperature and the graphical

illustration to the system design.

The difference between both systems is there is no mobile web-based in

our system.

The Aquatic Resources Monitoring Device of National University, Manila

aimed to developed a project that can provide temporary prevention kill and an

audio device and SMS as near-real-time alarm system for the detection of a

consistent decrease and increase to the water quality parameters.

The similarity of the system and proposed system is the use of alarm

detection for the detection of the water quality parameters.

The difference between both systems is there is no front-end web

development that can monitor the level of each sensor.
