Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights was published in 1847 and written by Emly Bronte. Even throught
Wuthering Heights is a gothic novel, many people think about it as a love story. This far a
way to be a love story, in fact, it is a hate history. Every single action of the characters is
motivated by hate and revenge.

Mr. Earnshaw was the owner of Wuthering Heights, he had two children, Hindley and
Catherine, and one adopted child Heathcliff. Hindley is very cruel to Heathcliff on the other
hand his father and sister are very compassionate of him. When Hindley went to college,
Catherine and Heathcliff had the chance of become closer to each other. After the death of
Mr. Earnshaw, Hindley returns with his wife, as a new owner. Hindley forces Heathcliff to live
as a servant. Hindley’s wife dies after giving birth to a boy, Hareton. One night, while
Catherine is talking with her nanny, she says that she loves Heatcliff but she can’t marry a
person like him and she prefers to marry Edgar Linton. Heatcliff was able to hear
everything, and he decided to run away. Heatcliff comes back after a year as a rich man,
however, Catherine already marries Edgar Linton and she moves to Thrushcross Grange.
Heatcliff´s heart was different, he turns into a really cruel person and he decided to revenge
on both families. Hindley was not very good at business, so he had a lot of debts, he let
Heatcliff live with them because he needs his money. Heatcliff married Edgars’s sister,
Isabella. He was an aggressive husband so Isabella decided to run away with Heatcliff´s
son. After Hindley dead, Hareton is treated by Heatcliff as a servant, as well as he did with
him. Catherine dies while she is giving birth to her first child, Cathay. After a few years
Isabella dies. Before dying, she calls her brother and she says that she wants him to care for
her son. However, Heatcliff takes away his son to Wuthering Heights. The purpose of
Heatcliff is to get Thrushcross Grange by matching his son and Catherine after Edgar dies.

Wuthering Heights definitely is a strong history that has been able to keep itself in the minds
and hearts of the lectors for so many years. The first time I read this book was very difficult
for me to understand that the main characters of this book were not typically as good
persons as in other books that I’ve read before. However, you should understand that this is
not a love history and the two main characters should not end up together, they both are
very similar and very different at the same time, their pride is wound and a history where
they both get married probably is not believable their frustration is evident in the deep
injuries that they made daily in the innocent persons around them. Definitely is a very tragic
and sad history but is also a realistic way to capture the scent of human behavior.

In short terms, this a wonderful history that probably you will end up in a few days is tragic
but is also realistic and strong, you have to keep in mind that even though this history was
published many years ago is far away to be typical, is in fact and obligated lecture for the
lovers of classic books.
