Question:

+ What are your thoughts about Jose Rizal as an individual and those who influenced him
to become the hero we know today?
Jose Rizal himself is a man with dignity, compassion, and a man with exceptional beliefs
and gifts. He uses his gifts; intelligence, talents, and skills for the betterment of our country
which was recognized by so many people that led him to be known as the Philippines National
Hero. Rizal believes that fighting back does not necessarily mean to fight with swords, instead he
uses his pen as his weapon to fight back against the Spaniards. He enlightened his people by
writing novels that was known as the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo which is now used
as the reference by so many people and a reminder for us and the future generations to not let
others bind us.
Of course, without his mentors and teachers Rizal wouldn’t be the Rizal as he was if it
wasn’t for those people who helped mold him as to what he is. Behind those people who helped
him are his loved ones who became his teacher also, and especially Dr. Blumentritt who has an
intense desire to help in the betterment of his countrymen and the advancement of his country’s
civilization. All of these helped in molding Rizal to become what he is in his life.

+ What does being a Hero or Bayani mean to you?

Being a hero means that having to put other first beyond anything. It is a selfish act that
anyone could done to others. A hero, or "bayani," is viewed as someone who possesses
exceptional bravery, dignity, and strength. Heroes are people who turn their acts of compassion
into acts of valor. By doing so, they are giving their all in the service of humanity. In my
opinion, a hero is someone or a group of people who fights for justice or a moral cause, or who
stands up for those who are in need. In such a situation, I disagree that a hero or "bayani" is just
someone who saves lives or gives his or her life in a heroic manner for the benefit of the nation.
An everyday person like a police officer or firefighter can be a hero. A financial reward is
not necessary for acts of heroism. similar to risking one's physical well-being, reputation, or
quality of life without the expectation of financial gain. All of us have the ability to act
heroically, even in the face of danger, for the benefit of others. The advancement of society is
facilitated by acts of heroism. Heroes make the world a better place by taking on more
responsibility and putting others before themselves.
+ Is there a Hero you Admire? What similarities do they share with Jose Rizal and what
are the differences? (Life, Influences, Goals, Methods or Approach, and works)
