Catching – is a defensive skill that anyone needs to master because catching is one of the keys in
winning this game. Fielders can get a batsman out by catching the ball, provided it does not
bounce first. Hand eye coordination is the most important part of catching a softball. You must
train yourself to always watch the ball that is coming toward you. Taking your eyes off the ball
for a second can throw off your ability to catch it. Practice watching the ball as soon as it leaves
the bat or the thrower's hand.
Hitting - In order to hit a ball well, a batsman needs to have good hand-eye coordination and be
capable of responding quickly. Once players develop these skills, they can begin to choose the
area that they want the ball to land to avoid the fielders. Remember in holding a bat you need to
line your knuckles because this will help you to have a proper grip of the bat. Relax your elbow.
In hitting move your body and bend your right knees to have much power. Load-Contact-

Throwing – two kinds of throwing the Underhand and the overhand. Underhand throw is used in
pitching. The pitcher must release the ball with an underhand motion, which means release the
ball with the hand below the hip.
Overhand throw is used in passing the ball to your teammates
In throwing the ball you must have the speed and accuracy. This helps to prevent the opposing
team from scoring runs.
Move the instep of your back foot toward your target. As you step, turn your hips and shoulders
to transfer your weight forward to your front foot
