Question 4

Based on the article: Review of augmented reality in academic and research libraries, summarize
about artificial reality Review of augmented reality in academic and research libraries in 100 words.

The word "augmented" is derived from the Latin word "Augere," which means "to augment
or enlarge." Augmented reality (AR) is a modern technology that displays digital objects in
real life or in an existing environment. Because certain virtual objects appear in real life, this
technology is also known as mixed reality. The library is an agent of modern technological
development; it employs cutting-edge technology on occasion and is regarded as an
interesting technology center. Hussain (2022). (2022). AR has been used in libraries around
the world because it organizes information in a sequential manner for simple access. AR is
similar to virtual reality in that the thing is perceived as artificial. It has become integrated
with library services in developed countries in today's information technology era. This
innovation in technology is utilized to deliver more information in a more comfortable
setting. It was created in order to enable quick access to relevant information and
knowledge. It's a wonderful marriage of the digital and physical worlds; AR apps are created
for mobile or desktop to link people in the actual world. AR and virtual reality are the most
relevant technologies in today's society, and they've been adopted in the education and
library sectors to provide quick access to information.
The subject of how AR can be implemented in academic and research libraries arises.
The answer is simple: the job of AR technology is to display score overlays on televised
sports games as well as 3D images, e-mails, and text messages. It has been carried out on
cellphones or tablets. In 1968, Ivan Sutherland, a Harvard professor, devised the Sword of
Damocles, the first AR device, which he shared with his student Bob Sproul. AR is thought to
be a more advanced technology than virtual reality.
The modern world's technological expansion has had a huge impact on libraries. The
adoption of these technologies has resulted in a significant shift in library services. We have
seen libraries as change agents in the twenty-first century, and they have always embraced
new and robust technology to foster the correct knowledge in the shortest possible period.
We also know that technology evolves at an alarming rate, and both libraries and librarians
are utilising the most recent technologies to give their end-users with the best services in
the shortest amount of time. Libraries in industrialised countries such as the United
Kingdom and Germany are adopting and implementing new technology for learning,
research, and information to expand their offerings to current and future users. Leading and
innovative IT industry organisations are frequently referred to as "cutting edge." Cutting-
edge technology is often referred to as leading-edge technology or state-of-the-art
technology. Libraries are having more difficulty deploying these technologies and reaching
their end customers. Hussain (2020). (2020). AR plays an admirable function among these
cutting-edge technologies. AR is centred on mixing digital and reality, and librarians are
eager to apply the same technology in modern libraries. Libraries are entering their fourth
generation and will require the essential facilities and equipment to function properly as
technology has turned manual services into current information technology. networking
