EDUCATIONAL: Home-Use License

Included with your School/College/University’s SOLIDWORKS License you are entitled to a home
use version that you can install on your personal computers for using away from the institution.
Your Teacher/Lecturer/IT/Provider should have provided you this guide along with a 24 digit
Serial number. The following guide will take you through the steps for installing SOLIDWORKS
and using the license.

First, we need to access

the installation files for Educational Download
SOLIDWORKS. The
Educational Files are
acquired after filling the
form in at this site.

Fill in all the contact

information and select
“yes” to the Serial Number
along with the version
that matches what is used
in your
School/College/University.
Then Request Download.

Select “Accept and

Continue”

EDUCATIONAL: Home-Use License

Select Download

This should download a

relatively small ~30mb
Installer application.

Double click the application

to run it, and then click
“unzip”

Select Yes to the Windows

Firewall

Select “Install on this
computer” and then next.

Enter in the 24 Digit Serial

Number supplied to the top
SOLIDWORKS box and then
Next.

The Install Summary should
load, we recommend that
you adjust what installs as
much of the software is not
required, select change.

We recommend that you

only have the items ticked
here(If valid) unless
otherwise specified by your
Teacher.

Select “I accept the terms

of the SOLIDWORKS
License Agreement” and
then select “Download and
Install”

Let the download run, once

complete it should
automatically begin the
installation process.

When the installation

begins it will run through
each application which you
set to install, again this
should begin automatically
after the download.

Once Finished you should

see this page, select
“Finish” to complete the
installation.

When you start

SOLIDWORKS for the first
time you will be prompted
for an Activation, select “I
want to activate my
SOLIDWORKS Product
now” and then next.

Select “Select All” and

“Automatically over the
Internet”. Enter your Email
address and then select
Next.

You should receive an

Activation Succeeded
window, and then select
Finish. SOLIDWORKS
should then begin to load.

Accept the License

agreement when prompted.

SOLIDWORKS should then load completely, and you

should be ready to go!
