The most common reason that certain books are banned in schools is certain types of discrimination.
Racism and sexism are big turn offs from reading material in schools. People don't want kids to to be
reading materials that could encourage or glorify these topics. More topics include drugs or alcohol,
sexual scenes or other like material.

2. List some classics that have been banned or attempted in some school districts.
-To kill a mocking brid
-The lord of the flies
-The catcher in the rye
-The grapes of wrath

3. Define censorship Cencorship can be defined as the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books,
films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security.
 
4. Why are certain types of books challenged in school districts?
Offensive language, sexually explicit scenes or the desired age group is the most common reason that
some books can get challenged
 
5. When supporting banned or censored books, what do legal experts say parents have the right to do?
Refuse to let their child read a specific book for any reason. Whether that be political affiliations, sexual
orrientation or racial reasons.
