GUIDE VERSES!
“SAD BOI, SAD GIRL” IT’S EASY FOR US TO USE THESE WORDS BUT...
Nowadays, modern culture unknowingly ignores the nature of going through pain,
encouraging an environment where we just try to sweep our hurts under the rug
and never really go through the process the way we should be. In the previous part
of our series, we’ve discussed about “What if we don’t like what God allows?” Now,
what is the common human response when we don’t like what God allowed to
happen in our lives? We grieve. Grief is defined as the emotional reaction of sorrow
or sadness, often brought on by bereavements, loss, or suffering.
“SO, IS GRIEVING BAD AND SHOULD WE AVOID IT?”
Absolutely not! It’s okay to grieve! BUT make sure that when you grieve, you involve
God in that grieving process. So... where do we begin? There’s a whole book in the
Bible about lamenting (expressing one’s deep grief)—The Book of Lamentations.
Now, Lamentations 3:31-32 and Matthew 5:4 emphasizes that God welcomes our
grief and He desires to comfort us. This brings us to the truth that we need to carry
our pain with God. Not by ourselves, or with other people alone. So we need to:
1. PROCESS WITH GOD
When you process your pain with God, you understand it better and see His wisdom
more. How do we process it exactly? We can process our pain with God through
prayer, using God’s Word, and with Godly people. Going through grief and pain
with God will eventually enlighten us with His wisdom over our situation, and God’s
wisdom protects us from actions that will cause us more pain.
2. SURRENDER TO GOD
Psalm 73:21-24 conveys how bitterness and grief that is not processed with God can
make us senseless and ignorant, but surrendering to His guidance will redirect us
to His glory. We must make the sovereign God our refuge as we draw near to Him.
