Tourism Development Plan for Museo ng Makati
Museo ng Makati
This destination is located at J.P Rizal corner A. Mabini Sts.., Poblacion Makati. Museo ng Makati is
the first Town Hall of the Municipality of Makati. It was “Bahay na Bato” type of structure built around
1981 and was concreted under the administration of Mayor Nicanor Garcia.
In 9158 during the tenure of Mayor Maximo Strella, the old Town Hall was renovated. When the seat
of government was transferred to its present site in 1961, the old Town Hall was temporarily occupied
by the Municipal Library. When the Library was transferred to its present location within the City Hall
Grounds, the Philippine Eye and Ear Infirmary Occupied the building.
In March 1990, Ordinance No.186 was enacted by the Municipal Council by the Administration of
Jejomar C. Binay for the restoration of the Old Town Hall for its conversion into a museum called the
MUSEO NG MAKATI.
Restoration was undertaken in 1991. The Blessing of the Museo was on April 23, 1992. In June 1993,
the City Musem & Cultural Affairs office moved to manage the Museo’s operation.

Objectives:
Increase the number of visitors to the Makati Museum Poblacion by 20% over
the next year through effective marketing and outreach strategies.
Develop and implement new educational programs and activities that engage
visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
Expand the collection of artifacts and artworks on display to reflect the diverse
cultural heritage of Makati and its surrounding areas.
Foster partnerships with local cultural organizations, schools, and community
groups to promote cultural exchange and collaboration.
Upgrade and maintain the physical facilities of the Makati Museum Poblacion
to ensure a safe and comfortable visitor experience.
Conduct regular evaluations and assessments of the museum's exhibits and
programs to ensure they align with the museum's mission and goals.
Establish a strong online presence for the museum, including a comprehensive
website and social media accounts, to expand the museum's reach and engage
with a wider audience.
