TITLE OF THE ACTIVITY:

Performance Task #2.3: Family Emergency Preparedness
Plan on Natural Hazards

Name: Khean S. Orden______________________ Date Performed: _______________________

Section: STEM 11- St. Francis______________ Date Submitted: ________________________
I. Introduction:
Public and private entities alike are not immune to disasters, whether manmade
or natural calamities that can strike a household with little or no warning anytime.
Communities in our localities are faced with the most prevalent range of events and
threat/hazards caused by unfriendly forces of nature such as typhoon, flood,
earthquake, and harsh seasonal weather condition apart from disastrous fires, civil
strife, accidents, and acts of terrorism. By planning and preparing ahead, we can cushion
the impact an emergency could have on our lives and business operations, as well bear
the ultimate responsibility for our own safety and that of our family members by
knowing how to respond quickly and efficiently.

II. Objectives: At the end of the activity, you are able to:
1. institute measures that will prevent accidents and minimize the effects of
disasters or calamities;
2. prepare every family member in the household to survive the effects of disasters
or calamities;
3. establish a crisis preparedness program and delineate the roles and
responsibilities of each family member in the household; and
4. create a family emergency plan that should provide comprehensive
organizational framework designed for a specific foreseeable emergency
(geological hazard or hydrometeorological).
II. Scope:
Governed by four (4) phases of emergency management, this plan covers
guidelines and procedures consistent with the following principles.

III. Procedure:
1. Choose one hazard and develop a family emergency plan (see attached family
preparedness plan guideline).
2. Discuss the things to do before, during, and after the occurrence of events that
cause the hazard.
3. Include evacuation plan (see attached sample) and contact information in case of
emergency.
5. Make a short narrative with reflection of your family preparedness plan.

V. Narrative and Reflection :

A. Narrative Report

In completion of our requirements in DRRR for the second quarter, we were tasked
to create a Family Emergency Preparedness Plan which is comprised our previous
outputs such as Household Hazard Mapping, Family Emergency Go-Bag and Circle of
Protection to name a few. It also incorporated the lessons taught to us during the
quarter such as the fundamentals of disaster readiness and what to do during, before
and after a said disaster.

Prior to the making of the said plan, conceptualization and planning was needed in
order to ensure a fulfilling output that met the demands of the criteria. I made sure to
carefully plan the different components of the Family Emergency Preparedness Plan
and also discussed it over with my family members to hear out their opinion on the
escape route and such. I then heeded any of their feedbacks and integrated it in the
activity.

To construct the Family Emergency Preparedness Plan, I first needed to compile

some of my former activities. This was done on January 2, 2023. I then altered it to fit
the demands of the rubric. The following day was used for polishing the output and the
making of the narrative and reflection.

B. Reflection

Safety should be one of an individual’s top priorities and concerns. Hazards and
disasters can pose a serious threat to our health and safety. The risk of disaster can be
reduced, but the possibility of it happening is inevitable. The best thing that one can do
is to practice safety precautions, be prepared and be informed on what actions to take in
the presence of hazards and in the midst of disasters.

Through this activity, I was able to take the importance of disaster and hazard
readiness to heart and made something that can benefit my own family’s safety and
well-being, that being the Family Emergency Preparedness Plan.

I also learned that our previous lessons and activities can also be taken for further use
such as this one. They served as a basis and guide to how I was able to construct this
activity. With that being said, I can firmly say that other individuals must also feel the
need to learn about these for their own safety and well-being.
