Chapter 1

o Background of the Study

Flood Indicator is an electronic device is designed to Indicate the level of the

water and to provide an alert for the people i

o Hypothesis

Null Hypothesis – The flood indicator will be unused if there is no electricity

(brown out or Black out) because the flood Indicator is dependent (Unless we
have an alternative like batteries but the insurance of how long it will last will be
unknown)

Hypothesis – If we have a flood Indicator the risk of the calamity will be lessen
because the detector will help us to brace ourselves when a calamity is
anticipated

o Statement of the problem

General problem:

o Scope and limitation

o Significance of the Study

The purpose of the study is for

o Review of Related Literature

The review of related literature has the function to be the core concept of the
research. This section presents various writings and reports assessed and
summed up, derived from both foreign and local resources of which the
researchers consider to bear significance to impart the fact-finding.

o Research Instruments

The researchers will use a test questionnaires as their research instrument

because it is the easiest and the most accurate form of gathering informations.
They will do this by distributing the test papers to the people living in the tested
area.

o Data Gathering

The researchers will go to the area which the device are being tested, after they
go to that area, the researchers will look for participants to answer the interview if
they think that the product is effective or not

o Ethical Consideration

We learned that we must be sensitive enough to help other people when they are
facing struggles in life and we must do it voluntarily. We must not wait for a
reward if we do something for others. The reason why we must help other people
is because we human are responsible to our fellowmen. We as a student can

2
help other people by sharing our knowledge about being alert at all times when
there is a calamity.

B. Data Interpretation

As this product, Flood Indicator was invented to solve our struggle on flood as it
comes dangerous we come up on the idea of asking some people according on
their:

o Light Implication

As it was shown on the graph the first light will trigger if the water level reaches 8
inches high (yellow) after that, when the water is still rising up the second light
will be triggered if the water level reaches 10 inches high (Orange) then if the
water still continues to rise up the third light will trigger if the water level reaches
13 inches (Red)

How long does it take for the indicator to alarm?

It depends on how fast the water to reach the final light, because if the
water reaches the final trigger the light and the alarm will fuction simultaneously.

o Family Size

As it was shown on the graph out of our 20 respondence 25% has the
family size ranging from 1 to 3, 40% has the family size ranging from 4 to 6, 20%
has the family size ranging 7 to 9, 15% is under of 10 to 12 range of family size
and the range of 13 and above has none. This is to know the number of people
on each family that we had ask.

The reason why we investigate the size of the family for us to know how many
people will be affected by the flood and how long for them to evacuate.

6
o Location

We come up on 3 places that experience the most of flooding through the

survey that was done. Binang 1st having 40%, Bambang that has 35%, and Taal
that has 25% are those. Binang and Bambang had almost the same percentage
of experiencing of flooding. The reason is that, those two places are near from
each other. Also, both are low lying areas that makes them more prone on
flooding.

On those 3 places; Binang 1st, Bambang, Taal, out of our 20 respondence 18 of

them agreed that Flood Detector will truly help on them as it was use during a
calamity or in some case of flooding. Their main reasons are as follows:

 It can alert them everytime the flood comes.

 It will help them to be prepared and ready.
 It can lessen the damage made by the flood.
 It can help as a signal on when to evacuate.
 It can help them to be safe.

Chapter 4

o Summary of finding / Conclusion

The main purpose of our study is to help our fellowmen to be alert in terms of
crisis, especially when there are floods. The researchers made a survey on the
people of chosen place if they think that the product will be effective or not.

There are three major baranggays here in bocaue that are prone on flood. These
are Binang 1st , Taal and Bambang, So the researcher made a survey on this
three barangays and pick a random people to answer the question. When the
survey is done there 18 out 20 people who agreed that the Flood indicator will be
effective when it is installed in the said barangays.

So therefore the researchers conclude that many people are agreed on having a
flood indicator in their barangays because they believe that this device is
effective enough in order to give them awareness if our country is experiencing
flood

o Recommendation and Suggestion

I. We can use electrical fuse instead of battery, but we can also use
batteries as an alternative source of power if there is a brownout
II. Only limited people can see the device indicator so we suggest that we
must add an additional devices in different streets in a baranggay
III. We suggest to use louder alarms in order to easily notify the people about
the level of the flood
IV. We recommend that the future researchers will use larger kind of bulb so
that the residence will easily notice the light that comes from the device
V. We also suggest that the device must have on and off controller for it to
be hassle free
