OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

Ordermo is a food delivery service that operates in Central Luzon. The company has been
in operation for a number of years and has a good reputation. However, like all businesses,
Ordermo must constantly strive to improve its operations and maintenance in order to stay ahead
of the competition. Ordermo must also maintain good communications with its users. The
company must always be open for requests, and ready to listen to customer complaints. By that,
they will determine what and where are the difficulties and issues coming from, and they can
resolve it with proper solutions as they create a user-friendly community.

Therefore Operations and maintenance is an integral part of the day-to-day operation of

the Ordermo system. The Ordernisir Dev Feature was completed in the Implementation Phase.
This document defines tasks, activities, and responsible parties and needs to be updated as
changes occur. Systems operations activities and tasks need to be scheduled, on a recurring basis,
to ensure that the production environment is fully functional and is performing as specified.

Moreover, Software and databases should be maintained at (or near) the current
maintenance level. The backup and recovery processes for databases are normally different than
the day-to-day data/software administration volume backups. The backup and recovery process
of the databases should be performed as a data/software administration task. The following are
the preventive, corrective, and detective controls critical for the operation and maintenance of the
system developed:

Preventive

 Ensure that systems and networks are running and available during the defined hours of
operation.

 All processes, manual and automated, are documented in the operating procedures. These
processes should comply with the system documentation.
 Perform the physical security functions including ensuring adequate uninterruptible
power supply and ensuring that personnel have proper clearances and proper access
privileges, etc.

 Ensure users are trained on current processes and new processes. Provide periodic
refresher training and ensure funding.

 Ensuring all processes are documented properly in the Operations Manual.

 Developing and maintaining a performance and tuning plan for online process and
databases.

Detective

 Maintain performance measurements, statistics, and system logs. Examples of

performance measures include volume and frequency of data to be processed in each
mode, order and type of operations.

 Monitor security controls and performance statistics, report the results, and escalate
problems when they occur.

 Developing and performing data/database backup and recovery routines for data integrity
and recoverability.

 Perform and test backups (day-to-day protection, contingency, and recovery).

Corrective

 Interfacing with other functional areas for day-to-day checking/corrections.

 Installing, configuring, upgrading and maintaining database(s). This includes updating
processes, data flows, and objects (usually shown in diagrams).
 Performing configuration, security and design reviews/audits to ensure software, system,
parameter, and configuration are correct.
 Perform patching of software for the system.
 Manage and control configuration and changes to the system.

In addition, periodic reviews of controls, periodic re-evaluation of information categorization

and re-certifications and revision of risk assessments and security plans, and re-certification and
re-authorizations to process must be conducted as required. Because systems undergo periodic
maintenance, enhancements and improvement, mini life cycles may be required throughout this
stage. Continuous vigilance should be given to virus and intruder detection. The Project Manager
of Ordermo must be sure that security operating procedures are kept updated accordingly.

CONCLUSION

Ordermo is a food-ordering services application that is created to meet the cravings of the
people without going out of their own comfort place. Its goal is to have a hassle-free ordering
experience for both customers and merchants. The Ordermo’s technological partner, Lín tech
Company offers a development project called Ordernisir Development Project (ODP) to improve
the application to be timely and relevant. They provided new functionable, and easy to use
features to create a better experience for the Ordermo app users. ODP follows the 7 phases of the
system development life cycle: planning, system analysis and requirements, system design,
development, integration and testing, implementation, and operation and maintenance. It
contains strategic information needs, industry competency analysis, project feasibility, strategic
system plans, cost-benefit analysis, action plans, system analysis, controls, application design,
and more useful information and study for the improvement of the system.

The system development cycle of Ordermo PH is focused on developing and maintaining

software systems. All of the process done are critical to the new and updated software
development, as it ensures that all stakeholders are involved in the development process and that
the software meets all requirements. This process helps to ensure that the system meets the needs
of the users, and that it is able to function properly. With this, Ordermo will have an edge against
its competitors and emerge as the top food delivery service company in the Philippines.
