Assume any missing data. Use pencil in drawing only.
Steel tables and Egyptian Code of Steel structures are allowed
Question # 1: (24 Marks)
The shown structure consists of steel trusses spaced at 8.0 m to cover an area of 24 x 48 m
Given data
Weight of steel = 50 kg/m2
Weight of covering (corrugated sheets) = 20 kg/m2
Live Load on the roof = 50 kg/m2
St(37) Gusset plate thickness = 10 mm Bolt diameter =16 mm

Member cross- section and internal forces

V1 ??? 1L 60 x60 x 6
L1 12.5 ton 2Ls 80 x80 x8
L2 + 14.6 ton 2Ls 80 x80 x8
Required:
1- For the shown truss structure, draw to scale 1:200 the plan and side-view of the bracing
system (4 Marks)
2- Check the safety of member D2 as 1Ls 70 x70 x 7 (Consider welded connection) (3 Marks)
3- Check the safety of member L1 as 2Ls 80 x80 x8 (Consider bolted connection) (3 Marks)
4- Find the maximum design force due to (D.L and L.L) in member V1 (3 Marks)
5- Design member D1 as a single angle for tension force =11.2 ton (welded connection) (3 Marks)
6- Compute the maximum compression capacity of member U1 (4 Marks)
7- Design and draw to scale 1:10 the joint J1 as welded connection and continuous chord (4 Marks)
