‘Preserving Mental Health and Sustaining the future’

According to the World Health Organization, mental health is a state of mind in which
a person is aware of his or her own capabilities, the ability to deal with stress on a daily basis,
work efficiently, relate to others, and be involved in the community.
When I take over as Miss. Belair , I plan to hold Mental Health forums for both upper
and lower school students. A representative from The Bellevue Hospital will moderate these
forums.
To kick off this project, two anonymous drop boxes will be placed in the school's
busiest areas. Students will be encouraged to write about something they've been holding
back. Since mental health is a very touchy and personal topic, I believe that the students will
be more eager to participate knowing that this will be anonymous. The forum will begin with
a question-and-answer session, during which each student's personal statement will be
acknowledged and professional advice will be provided. Self-image/self-concept, self-harm,
bullying, suicide, depression, eating disorders, mental health in and out of school, effective
ways to overcome low self-esteem, and the importance of good communication will all be
discussed.
I hope that by the end of this project, I will have had a significant impact on my
school's society.
“A positive mind will yield a positive society, and a positive nation.”

P. S I will be assisted by Mr. Zane Mark Black Gordon (A Registered Psyche Nurse at the
Bellevue Hospital), and Mrs.Zanelle Rhulle (Visual Arts Teacher).
