LEVEL GUIDES

Experience Skill
Level 1 -2 Entry/Junior
0-2 years relevant experience. Entry Knows fundamental concepts, practices
level for employees with Elementary or and procedures of particular field of
K12 education specialization.

Level 3 Intermediate
2-5 years experience. Knows and applies the fundamental
concepts, practices and procedures of
particular field of specialization.

Level 4 - Senior
3-5 years professional experience. Fully Possesses and applies a broad knowledge
competent professional of principles, practices, and procedures of
particular field of specialization to the
completion of difficult assignments.

Level 5 - Supervisor
5-8 years professional experience. Possesses and applies comprehensive
knowledge of particular field of
specialization to the completion of complex
assignments. Has well-developed
leadership
qualities.

Level 6 - Manager
More than 5-10 years relevant Possesses and applies comprehensive
experience is required at this level. knowledge of particular field of
specialization to the completion of complex
assignments. Has well-developed
leadership
qualities.
LEVEL GUIDES

Duties and Tasks Usually Reports to

Using established procedures and working under direct Supervisor or Manager


supervision, performs assigned tasks. Work is routine
and instructions are usually detailed. Little evaluation,
originality or ingenuity is required.
They generally work under general supervision.
They typically have very little decision-making ability.
They have no budgetary responsibility or ability to spend
without approval.
    

Under general supervision, performs work that is varied Supervisor or Manager


and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but
usually involves limited responsibility. Some
evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required. Individuals
at this level usually have procedural or systems
experience.
They work under general supervision
Their decisions are usually based on established
procedures.

Manager

Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with


superior on unusual matters.
May be assisted by Entry/Junior or Intermediate Level
personnel.
Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and
ingenuity.
Individuals at this
level must have command of the procedures and systems
used.
They generally work to specific measurable objectives
requiring operational planning skill with little direct
supervision.
They have considerable latitude for making decisions or
unreviewed action within their unit.
People skills are important.
Manager

Under general supervision. They


plan, assign, conduct and supervise tasks. They
recommend changes in procedures. They
operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or
decision.

They assist with the review and evaluation of personnel


performance.
They may act in liaison capacity with other departments,
divisions, and organizations.
They evaluate progress and results and recommend major
changes in procedures.
Individuals at this level must have a thorough
understanding of the theoretical and practical application
of the principles of their profession.
They generally work to broad goals for their area of
responsibility.
People skills are essential.

Eldership

Under Administrative Supervision.


Plans and conducts assignments, generally involving the
larger and more important projects or more than one
project. Reviews
progress and evaluates results. Leads or directs
projects. Reviews and
evaluates personnel performance. Acts in liaison
capacity with other departments, divisions, and
organizations. Evaluates progress
and results and recommends major changes in
procedures.
Individulas at this level have hire/fire authority over
team members.
Individuals at this level are seasoned professionals in their
field of expertise.
They give strategic guidance to the units under their
control.
They develop and direct short and near-term goals for the
whole staff.
They have horizontal and vertical decision-making.
They have complete budgetary control over the functions
under their control.
People skills are essential, including the ability to develop
subordinates, are critical.
