The Swahili Language School is a
youth-led institution from Kenya
whose aim is to provide quality Swahili
language instruction and services
across the world.
Unlike other language schools in the
world, it focuses on one language. It
teaches from and develops 21st
century learning materials and exams
for all levels, from beginner to
advanced. All are welcome! In our
school, we believe than anyone at any
age or any background can learn
Kiswahili.
Using our immersion program, you can
now begin to speak Kiswahili in as
little as 10 days.
So far, we have created Swahili-based
employment opportunities for many of
the youth living in Kenya. These
include:
• Translation & Interpretation
• Transcription services
• Media localization
• Recruitment for roles requiring
knowledge of Kiswahili.

BEGINNER A1.1, A1.2, A1.3
This course is designed for "true" beginners and introduces the
basics of Swahili grammar. Students will learn how to introduce
themselves and greet others, how to give and understand simple
directions, and also how to ask and answer specific questions. It
also covers numbers, colors, personal pronouns, present, past
and future tenses, conjugation of verbs, and much more.
INTERMEDIATE B1.1, B1.2, B1.3
Students enrolling in this course should be able to communicate
in Swahili and must have a general understanding of Swahili
grammar (i.e. present, past and future tenses, etc.). At the end of
this course, students will be able to participate in conversations
with greater ease. Students at this level will also work to develop
and improve their writing skills.
Additionally, the instructor works with students to improve four
language components (writing, reading, speaking and listening)
plus new and useful vocabulary. At this level, the class
environment is designed to be totally immersed in Swahili. All
communication will be done in Swahili.
SWAHILI LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
This course is designed for students at an Advanced level who
wish to explore Francophone cultures. The classes will focus on
group discussions about history, literature, film and music in
East Africa and around the world.
