Setup for Schlage Encode with Alexa

1 Make sure your home internet connection is up and running

with a strong 2.4 gHz Wi-Fi network throughout the home.

2 Make sure your mobile device has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

enabled, and that the mobile device battery has sufficient
charge for the setup process.

3 Make sure your mobile device is connected to your home

Wi-Fi network with a strong signal at the Front Door.

4 Make sure the Schlage Encode smoothly locks and unlocks

the door manually by hand or key.

5 Download the ‘Schlage Home’ app from the iTunes App

Store or Google Play Store (iOS/Android). Open the app.

6 Select ‘Sign In’

7 Select ‘Sign Up’

8 Enter your email address, password and name for the

account. Press ‘Sign Up’.

9 Check your email inbox for the Verification Code. Enter the
code and press ‘Confirm’.

10 Press the icon in the top right corner of the app to pair a 2.4 GHz
new lock.

11 Select ‘Set up a Schlage Encode’

12 Select ‘Yes, lock is installed’

13 Slide the battery compartment cover up on the back of the

lock to reveal the QR code. Press ‘Continue’

14 Using your mobile device’s camera, scan the QR code on the

back of the lock.

15 Press and release the button on the back of the lock.

16 Wait while your device and lock complete the pairing

process.

17 Connect your lock to your home 2.4 gHz Wi-Fi
network. Press ‘Connect Wi-Fi’
18 Select your home 2.4 gHz Wi-Fi network from the list.
Enter your password. Select ‘Connect Wi-Fi’
19 Once it has successfully connected to your network,
enter the location name for your lock, an access code,
and the name for the access code. Press ‘Finish’.
20 Now the lock will calibrate. Open the door slightly.
Press ‘I’m Ready’ and the lock will automatically
configure itself for your door.
21 Upon successful calibration of the Schlage Encode,
press ‘Next’.
22 Test the control of the lock through the app by
tapping on the large colored lock symbol. Green with
an unlocked lock, means unlocked. Red with a locked
lock, means locked.
23 Review the history of usage by selecting the ‘History’
button
24 Review Access Codes by selecting the icon in the
bottom right corner.
25 To create a new access code, press the ‘+’ icon in the
top right corner.
26 Give your code a name, enter the code, and create a
schedule for the code (if desired).
27 To connect your Schlage Encode to Alexa, you must
download the Alexa mobile app from the iTunes App
Store or Google Play Store if you don’t have it already.
28 Once the app has downloaded, launch the app and
create a new account (if you don’t have an Amazon
account already).
29 Once you have the account created, you must
enable the Schlage Home Skill. Go to the Menu,
and then ‘Skills & Games’.
30 Click the magnifying glass to search, and type
in ‘Schlage Home. Select the ‘Schlage Home’
skill, and ‘Enable’. It will prompt you to enter
your Schlage account information that you have
already created, select ‘Authorize’.
31 Upon successfully linking the Schlage Home skill
with Alexa, Select ‘Done’.
32 Select ‘Discover your devices’. Select the device
and confirm your naming for voice control.
33 Create Groups using the ‘+’ symbol and create
rooms or areas for your Smart Locks.
34 You will get a notification from the Schlage
Home app on your mobile device when the
batteries inside the Smart Lock are dying and
needing replacement.
35 Replace when required with high-quality non-
rechargeable batteries (AA x 4) for optimum
performance.
36 Send ‘digital’ keys using the Schlage Home app
to guests of the home. Control the access from
anywhere.
37 Control by voice with Alexa. Control from
anywhere in the world via mobile app.
