A. Before we will proceed to our proper lesson, let’s have first our review.

Reviewing Yesterday, we have talked about measuring circumference. Anyone, who can give the
previous measuring tools which are appropriate for measuring circumference?

The measuring tools which are appropriate for measuring circumference are Tape

Very Good!!

B. Show Power point Presentation

Establishing The learners read the questions given:
a purpose for What is the poem all about?
the lesson. What are the formulas mentioned in the poem?
Do you think that it is important to give exact measurement?

Measure Me First
Group 1: Look around and you’ll see, Everything has shapes, do you agree with me?
If you’ll look up on the sky, There is a huge ball of fire, My mother said, “That is not a
fire, son”, That’s the center of solar system, the sun.
Well done Group One
Group 2: “Mother! Mother! How we will measure the sun?” Oh! You’re so funny my
son, We can absolutely measure how huge is the sun, We need to look on its
circumference, and it will be fun.
Oh! I see, I want to measure its circumference mother, will you help me? Yes, dear
son just use the formula write it with me, If the radius is there, use C=2πr, if the given
is diameter, write C=πd. Look son, it’s easy as 1,2,3.
Group 3: Thank you, Mother I will use this, I can finally give accurate measurement to
round things, Giving exact measurement is the right thing, It helps to avoid mistakes
and help in our every routine.
Bravo you are a good poets!!!
With the help of the poem we read, class what do you think is our lesson for
today?
Expected Answer: Circumference of a Circle
Very well said!

lesson What did Dora and Diego find on their way home? Describe it. (the pupils will answer)
What did the two cousins want to find out?
•How they will get the circumference?
•How big is the fish pond?

OH! HOW BIG IS THE FISH POND?

In Brgy. Sto Tomas, there are two cousins, Dora and Diego. They love to explore nature.
One day on their way home, they saw a fish pond nearby, “Wow! Diego that is a fish
pond”, Dora said. “Come, let’s see what is on the fish pond,” Diego replied. The two
cousins run to the fish pond, there are fishes, frogs, butterflies, dragonflies and different
plants in the fish pond. “There are lots of living things in this fish pond, Diego”, Dora
exclaimed. “Yes, Dora, hmm… I am wondering, how big is this fish pond?”, asked Diego.
“I knew it, in order to know it let us remember our yesterday’s lesson about
circumference”, Dora answered. “That’s right, Dora, according to Ma’am Brenda, our
Math Teacher, it would be easier to get the circumference by measuring first the diameter
or the radius of the pond,” Diego answered. After measuring the diameter and radius,
they see that the diameter is 4 meters .

D. Discussing
new concepts C=πd and C=2πr (The teacher will show it in the PPT.)
and practicing
new skills #1 Given: d = 4 meters
r = 2 meters
π = 3.14

C=πd C=2πr
C=3.14x4 meters C=2x3.14x2meters
First, write the formula.
Second, write the given.
Then, substitute the given with the appropriate formula.
And multiply and Find the Answer.
So the answer is C=12.56

Another examples:
C= 2πr C= πd
1.
C= 2 x 3.14 x 9 cm C= 3.14 x 18 cm

= 56 cm = 56 cm

2.
C= 2 x 3.14C=
x62πr
cm C= 3.14 C= πdcm
x 12
12 cm
= 37.68 cm = 37.68 cm
