SAFETY WHEN USING SIMPLE MACHINES

When using the simple machines, you must practice precautionary measures
to avoid accident.

Safety with sharp objects

1. Use sharp tools under adult supervision. Ask for help when having
difficulty in using.
2. Choose tools of the right size for your hands. Tools that are too large
for your hands can slip while in use and will cause danger.
3. When using sharp tools, give your full attention to what you are
doing. Make sure that you have good lighting so you can clearly see
the tools and your hands.
4. Keep, clean, and return sharp tools to their proper places or storage.
Do not leave tools scattered around your house.

Safety on ramps
1. Look out for and avoid slippery spots.
2. Hold on the handrails.
3. Do not run down or race on ramps.
4. Be extra careful on bring down patients with wheelchair, baby on
strollers, or grocery carts.
Safety on pulley
1. Check the ropes if at the right gauge (thick enough) and are in good
condition (not yet brittle or frayed).
2. Make sure that the knots are tied correctly. If not sure, have it
checked by experts.
3. If you like doing activities like ziplining or wall climbing, check the
reputation of the place, competence of attendants, and durability of
facilities before you do the ride.
4. Have safety nets and back-up ropes in case the main supporting rope
snaps.
What Is In/What is it
Developing mastery (leads to formative assessment )
4Managed classroom structure to engage learners, individually or in
groups, in meaningful exploration, discovery and hands-on activities
within a range of physical learning environment.

Here are symbols/signages that show safety on using simple machines.

Identify whether they are safety on PULLEY, RAMPS or SHARP OBJECTS.
Group Activity. With the use of Cartolina and tape/paste.

C. Engagement What is More

Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily
living.
7Used differentiated, developmentally appropriate learning experiences
to address learner’s gender, needs, strengths, interests and experiences.

Groups will get ready and will show the class a short skit on how you will
demonstrate safety in using simple machines.
- The Teacher have assigned the tasks as an assignment a day before.

1. It is Linda’s first day on her job as a saleslady. Her task is to put canned
goods on the shelf. Give suggestions on how Linda should do the task
easily.
2. Lora was called by her mother to get her the knife that she will use in
cutting vegetables, how should Lora bring the knife to her mother
without an accident happening?
3. Arnel and Jhag were assigned in the flag pole for the weekly raising of
flag, what should they do before the flag raising ceremony?

D. Assimilation What I Have Learned

Making generalization and abstraction about the
lesson
9 Designed,
selected, organized and used diagnostic, formative and
summative assessment strategies consistent with the curriculum.

Using the important words from each types of simple machines discussed
today, form a simple mind map to generalized what you have learned today.

Evaluation:
1. A video will be played and will be answered through their
PROPER/IMPROPER Flashcard
2. A link will be sent to the group chat (google forms) and this will
serve as their quiz.
