Competition-Interaction between organisms or species where one or

both organisms / species are harmed

Predation-The killing by one living organism of another for food

Biodiversity-The variety of plant and animal life in the world or in a

particular habitat

Carrying capacity-The maximum number of individuals that the

environment can sustain over a long time, without destroying or
degrading the environment

Migration-The large-scale movement of members of a species to a

different environment

Symbiosis-A mutual relationship between members of different species

within an ecosystem\

Mutualism-symbiotic relationship- Both organisms benefit from the

relationship

Commensalism- Symbiotic relationship- One of the species benefits in

the relationship without harming or benefitting the other

Parasitism- Symbiotic relationship- One of the species benefits in the

relationship while harming the host that it lives off.

Exponential Growth =  J Curve-Grows at a fast, increasing rate-No

limiting factor
Logistic Growth = S Curve -Levels off due to limiting
factors - Reaches carrying capacity = largest # of organisms the
ecosystem can support

Impact of organisms on ecological diversity. –

-Wipe out crops

-Impact global food security

- Cause economic loss due to damage of crops

 - Impact other species that also lives off and uses the same vegetation

 -Cause extinction of other species.

habitat loss, -climate change, -toxic pesticides -disease.

Provide a habitat in your yard or other outdoor spaces for that

specific species.

-Eat food that is taking that species in consideration (like vegan or

bee friendly)

- Avoid the use of pesticide

. -Don’t kill organisms just for the sake of it

-- Preserve wild habitat.

- Restore ecological agriculture

. - Buy produce from local, small businesses

- Raise awareness of the species in question

Provide high-quality food (honey, royal jelly and pollen) and other
products such as beeswax, propolis and honey bee venom. -
Beekeeping also provides an important source of income for many
rural livelihoods. - When animals and insects pick up the pollen of
flowers and spread it, they allow plants, including many food
crops, to reproduce
