IBA COMMUNITY WELFARE SOCIETY – INTERNSHIP REPORT

SUBMITTED TO: CAREER DEVELOPMENT CENTER

SUBMITTED BY: FATIMA SOHAIL – 19813

Acknowledgements:
I'd want to express my gratitude to IBA Community Welfare Society for allowing me to assist
our community; without them, I would not have been able to complete this internship. I'm also
grateful to IBA and IBA Community Welfare Society who sent information and notes to me and
the other interns. I've never seen my privilege so clearly in my life, so I'd like to thank IBA
Community Welfare Society for allowing me to recognize how fortunate I've been and for
allowing me to help those who haven't been as fortunate. Finally, I'd want to thank Dr. Ishrat
Hussain, the former Dean and Director of the IBA, for mandating the RCI for all IBA students. I
doubt I would have given it as much weight if it had not been a graduation requirement.

Introduction to IBA Community Welfare Society:

The IBA Community Welfare Society (CWS) was founded with the sole intention of making the
world a better place to live. CWS has followed this mission from its foundation and has engaged
in a variety of initiatives to improve the lives of the less fortunate members of our community.
CWS hosts a wide range of events, including Blood Camps, Medical Camps, Water and Food
Distribution, Environmental Hazards Prevention Programs, and more. The society's services are
not limited to the United States; it also works abroad.

CWS has aided a variety of causes since its start, including medical emergencies in Tharparkar,
heatwaves in Karachi, mental health awareness, environmental hazard prevention, food
distribution to the poor, and many others. Local, national, and even international platforms are
available for service. CWS aspires to offer ease to more people with the support of our
volunteers, and to play its proper role in making their lives simpler.
Personal Responsibilities and Experience:

Our main task as interns was to build staff teaching curriculum using Muhammadiyah Learning
Academy Tallu's example curriculums. We used to have weekly mandatory Zoom sessions to
discuss our progress and were given assistance whenever we got stuck or couldn't complete a
task. I was given the task of creating a curriculum for Grade 2 science. First, I looked over the
example curriculum that was presented to us. I began designing a new curriculum for the
following after examining it. I modified the previous curriculum by include some new topics that
were not previously addressed and that I felt were vital to include.

We also had a three-day workshop hosted by FRIP (First Response Initiative of Pakistan), a non-
governmental organization whose major purpose is to educate first-aid methods to the public for
usage in stressful situations. My role as an intern in the Education department was to teach these
measures to students, teachers, and parents at various schools and institutions. We learned about
many emergency circumstances and how to respond to them throughout the training, such as
heart attacks, fire explosions, drowning, and so on. It was an excellent class, and I left feeling
quite confident in my ability to respond in the event of an emergency.
