LARGEST EXPORT MARKET FOR UKRAINE
IN 2022

During 2022, Ukraine exported


99.8 million tons of goods worth
44.1 billion dollars. Of them, 63%
fell to EU countries (27.9 billion
dollars).
Among EU member states, the
largest exports were directed to
Poland ($6.6 billion), Romania
($3.8 billion), Hungary ($2.27
billion), Germany ($2.23 billion),
Italy ($1.5 billion) and Spain ($1.5
billion).
Goods

According to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine , in


2022, Ukraine exported goods to the EU worth 27.9
billion dollars. This is 4.1% more than in 2021 ($26.8
billion). The main goods that Ukraine exports to EU
countries as of 2022 are grain crops (16.8%), fats and
oils (11%), seeds and fruits of oil plants (10.4%),
ferrous metals (10%), ores and slag ( 8.5%), electric
machines (8.3%), wood and wood products (5.8%),
energy materials (3.3%).
Services

In 2022, Ukraine exported $3.4 billion worth of


services to the EU. This is 22.3% less than in 2021
($4.4 billion).
Ukraine exported services in the field of
telecommunications (34.2%), transport services
(24.5%), services for the processing of material
resources (22.3%), business services (13.2%) and
services related to financial activities (2.8%). Among
them, the export of services related to financial
activities increased in 2022. Exports of all other
services, unfortunately, decreased.
Support of Ukrainian exports
from the side of the EU

In order to help Ukrainian manufacturers and


exporters to "bear the burden of the war", the
EU suspended for one year for Ukraine:
duties for industrial products
input price system for fruits and vegetables;
all tariff quotas for agricultural products;
anti-dumping duties on goods originating in
Ukraine;
the application of global protective
measures to Ukrainian goods.

"Ways of solidarity"
To support Ukrainian exports and the Ukrainian
economy, on May 12, 2022, EU countries in
general also created the "Paths of Solidarity"
initiative, which simplifies ground logistics.
Goods

According to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, in


2022, Ukraine imported goods worth 27 billion
dollars from EU countries. This is 6.7% less than in
2021 ($29 billion). The main goods that Ukraine
imports from EU countries as of 2022 are energy
materials - 24.0%, means of land transport, except
railway - 10.8%, nuclear reactors, boilers, machines -
7.1%, different - 6 .7%, electric machines - 5.6%,
plastics, polymer materials - 5.0%, pharmaceutical
products - 4.8%, various chemical products - 2.4%.
Services

In 2022, Ukraine imported $1.7 billion worth of


services from the EU. This is 48.5% less than in 2021
($3.3 billion).
Ukraine imported services in the field of transport -
40.1%, business services - 17.8%, services in the field
of telecommunications - 13.5%, royalties and other IP
- 9.9%, services related to financial activities - 7 .3%.
In 2022, the import of all services decreased.

EU AND UKRAINE

The Association Agreement, including a Deep


and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA)
Key elements of the DCFTA include:
mutual abolition of import duties on most goods;
introduction of rules of origin of goods;
bringing Ukraine's technical regulations, procedures,
sanitary and phytosanitary measures and food safety
measures in line with the EU rules;
establishment of the most favorable conditions of
access to the services markets;
introduction of EU rules in the field of public
procurement by Ukraine;
simplification of customs procedures and prevention
of fraud, smuggling and other offenses;
strengthening protection of intellectual property
rights in Ukraine.

UKRAINE'S SHIFT AWAY FROM
RUSSIAN TRADE DEPENDENCE
Trade value between Russia and Ukraine peaked in 2011 at $49.2 billion, and since
then has fallen by 85% to $7.2 billion in 2020. It is worth noting that after the
beginning of the war, trade with Russia stopped completely or takes place illegally
in small volumes.
