In this lesson, Josie fostered a love of learning as students interacted with multiple activities to learn about
character traits. They began listening to a story using many adjectives. Students excitedly described the large
pictures in a “big book.”. Prior knowledge was activated with a review of various grammar topics as students
pointed out possessives and comparative and superlative adjectives. Then students focused on those words that
describe people, categorizing descriptive terms for what we see on the outside versus character traits that
people possess on the inside. Students looked at descriptions of family members on the Smart TV and laughed as
they came up with words to describe some unique individuals. They discussed an extensive list of positive and
negative traits, expanding their vocabularies. They then enjoyed translating descriptions of people, to
recognizing their own traits as well as peers. Peers gave compliments to each other. Josie has grown as a
teacher, in the delivery of her lessons. Objectives are of focus with a repertoire of methods to assist students in
meeting them. Classroom management tools are in place and have created a more efficient classroom.
