Method Statement Title:

Method Statement for Ground Beam

1.0 Introduction

Column is a vertical member which takes complete load of the beam, slabs and the entire structure
and the floor and other area of the building is adjusted as per the requirement of the client or owner.

The size of the columns, quantity of cement sand and aggregate to be mixed, the number of steel
bars to be placed, spacing between the stirrups is all mentioned in the structural drawing which is
designed by structural designer as per the actual load on the column and considering the factor of
safety.

A column is a vertical member which effectively takes load by compression. Basically, column is a
compression member as load acts along its longitudinal axis. Bending moment may occur due to
wind earthquake or accidental loads.

3.0 Methodology

1. Determine the ground beam level.

|Finish Floor level (FFL) – beam height – leancon = excavation depth |

2. Backfill the concreted pile cap and stump (if any) and excavate the remaining area to the beam
level.

3. Apply Lean concrete and do a marking line for formwork.

4. Install one side of formwork and beam rebar.

5. When rebar work completed, install another side of formwork and its support.

6. Concrete level of ground slab must below of the slab level (refer Figure 1)

7. PC Engineer will conduct pre-inspection to check the rebar arrangement, link distance, cover
spacer, and rebar lapping.

8. If the pre-inspection pass, then proceed for consultant inspection if not then need to call of
rectification before consultant inspection.

9. PC will call consultant for inspection. If the inspection pass, will proceed for concreting work, if
not need to rectify.

10. Concreting work need to proceed carefully to avoid the formwork break/misaligned.

11. Formwork can be removed after 24 hours of concreting work.
