Society

▪ A group of people with similarity in them share their life


together.
▪ Basic characteristics involve similarities and differences
among people, existence of interdependence, cooperation and
conflict, would be dynamic in nature, a web of relationship
would be seen, a comprehensive culture would be the identity,
etc.
▪ Will have all the arrangements for people to live their whole
life.
▪ Membership comes in a natural way.
Community
▪ Usually a number of communities are found in a society.

▪ Has almost all the characteristics of society.

▪ Sense of cooperation and a sense of community sentiment


could be more as it is usually smaller group of people
compared to the group of people in a society.
▪ Community must be identified with a territorial area. Unlike
society, community will always occupy a specific territorial
area.
▪ Membership comes in a natural way and voluntary way.
Association

▪ When a group of people get united to achieve a


common goal, they are called an Association.
▪ Will always have specific rules and procedure to
achieve the common goal.
▪ Would be formal.
▪ Membership comes in a voluntary way with specific
initiatives.
Institution
▪ The rules and procedure that help people to achieve
their goal in an Association are called Institution.
▪ The basic system through an Association, Society or
Community executes their goal.
▪ Can be formal or informal.
▪ Provides means of services.
Social group
Characteristics of social group include ---

▪ Regular interaction
▪ Structure of interaction
▪ Consensus
A group of people sharing a common identity, interacting
in a regular and structured way on the basis of some
consensus is called a social group.
