1.0 LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this experiment, we are able to:

1. To determine reaction of force on the truss

2. To determine the force in each members of the truss

2.0 THEORY
Structural engineering is a field of engineering dealing with the analysis and design of
structures that support or resist loads. Structural engineering is usually considered a specialty
within civil engineering, but it can also be studied in its own right.

Structural engineers are most commonly involved in the design of buildings and large on
building structures but they can also be involved in the design of machinery, medical
equipment, vehicles or any item where structural integrity affects the item's function or
safety. Structural engineers must ensure their designs satisfy given design criteria,
predicated on safety (e.g. structures must not collapse without due warning) or
serviceability and performance (e.g. building sway must not cause discomfort to the
occupants).

Structural engineering theory is based upon physical laws and empirical knowledge of the
structural performance of different materials and geometries. Structural engineering design
utilizes a number of simple structural elements to build complex structural systems.
Structural engineers are responsible for making creative and efficient use of funds,
structural elements and materials to achieve these goals.

3.0 PROCEDURE
1. Open the apps that has given in the lab sheet
2. Click the setting to switch to imperial ( if you are not familiar with metric system).
3. Next, create spans the bars start and end at nodes. Nodes are by product of creating
the structure. Support or hinges can be placed only at nodes.
4. After that, create the support and hinges
5. Click the support icon from the menu, select pinned (as require by design) and press
run it button to enter the chosen support type at nodes which your point further.
6. Escape the support dialog since we have to enter the hinge then.
7. After that, click load to applied load require by design.
8. Next, click solve to make the app show the force in the truss.
9. After that, click diagram to know the force in every truss.
3. By using the software create and simulate the truss below, and find the value of the
reaction force and the force in each members of the truss

7.0DISCUSSION
Compare the result. Are these values being equal? Explain your reasons.

in the result we got, we found that the result of simulation and also calculating is slightly
different. This may be due to our carelessness in finding values by using calculating. The
results on truss 1 and truss 2 also have significant differences. this may be due to a slight
error in the angle or the way of using the momentum formula itself. we did not get the same
value as the simulation. In addition, we have also done this simulation with various features
that we use, for example the picture below that refers to the features in this app that makes it
a little easier for us to find the force value on each of the trusses.
8.0 Conclusion
In the conclusion, we are able to determine reaction of force on the truss. We also are able
to determine the force in each members of the truss. Method of joint and method of section
are used to find the internal forces of each slender Structural engineering theory is based

to achieve these goals. member in a truss system. We have also been able to calculate the
force on each connection.
