Mathematical Design Model:

Designing and calculating a Wave Energy Converter using Linearly Acting Hydraulic Power
Take Off (LAHPTO) mechanism involves various steps, including determination of the wave
resource, selection of appropriate wave energy conversion technology, and design of the
LAHPTO system. Below are some of the key formulas used in the design and calculation of
LAHPTO-based wave energy converters:
1. Wave Generation:
To generate waves in the tank, we can use a motor or prime mover connected
to a pulley, which turns rotary motion into linear motion using a connecting rod. The motion of
the probe can be described by the following equation:
x= A∗sin(ωt+ φ)
Where,
x is the displacement of the probe (The displacement refers to the motion of the
probe, which is used to generate waves in the tank. The displacement of the probe is produced by
the rotary motion of the motor or prime mover, which is converted into linear motion using a
connecting rod and pulley system.),
A is the amplitude of the wave (The amplitude of the wave refers to the maximum
displacement of the probe as it moves up and down in the tank. It is determined by the distance
between the highest point and the lowest point that the probe reaches during one cycle of its
motion. The larger the amplitude, the higher the wave will be in the tank),

ω is the angular frequency of the wave (The angular frequency of a wave refers to the
rate at which the wave oscillates, or completes one cycle, in radians per unit of time. In your
project, the angular frequency of the wave generated by the probe is denoted by the symbol ω
and is given by the equation:

ω = 2πf

where f is the frequency of the wave in Hertz (Hz), which represents the number of cycles
completed by the wave in one second.),

t is time (Time refers to the duration for which the wave is generated in the tank.) ,
φ is the phase angle (The phase angle in our project determines where the wave starts in its
cycle.),
