A. Under AMRUT Phase I: Indore SPV AICTSL put 260 Intracity and Suburban buses into operation in
Indore city. These are 9m in length, non-AC diesel powered buses which can operate in the inner-city
areas as well. AICTSL adopted a new mode of operations termed “Cluster model” for making the
services sustainable.

B. Under AMRUT Phase II: Introduction of 400 CNG midi buses non-AC operated on state-of-the-art
financial model.
C. Under AMRUT Phase II: Introduction of 80 midi AC e-buses 50 of which will be intracity services run
on net cost contract and remaining 30 will be BRTS buses run on gross cost contract.
A. AMRUT Phase I project: Diesel Buses
o AICTSL made clusters of non-viable intracity bus routes and viable intercity bus routes to be
operated by one vendor
o Cross-subsidizing intracity bus operations from intercity bus operations
B. AMRUT Phase II project: CNG Buses
o Bus operations responsibility will be given to one agency and revenue collection responsibility to

6 another agency. Operator will be paid from the revenue submitted by collection agency.
Considered in the Project
o CNG for these buses will be sourced locally from the BIO-methanation plant in Indore at a discount
of ₹5/l from market rates.
C. AMRUT Phase II project: E-Buses
o Revenue earned from the e-buses operating on net-cost model will be used to operate e-buses
operating on gross cost model
o This cross-subsidization will make e-bus operation sustainable
 AMRUT Phase I project: Diesel Buses
o On an average Sutra Sewa buses cater to more than 50,000 passenger trips daily (as in 2021)
o Since inception in 2018 Sutra Sewa buses have catered to approximately 10,76,70,960 passenger
trips
o Due to clustering AICTSL was able to operate routes on which no bus operator wanted to run
services
