Classroom Layout Question 1: Describe the workflow of the room. Is the space used efficiently?
The workflow of the room is well organized and efficient. The times I went into the classroom
the teacher was teaching math and he would first start the lesson at the smart board, having the
class engage in whole group learning. Sometimes the students would stay at their desks or they
were called to the carpet. Once he was done with the whole group lesson, he would split
students into groups or partners and allow them to either sit at their desks or anywhere around
the room. He explained that in the beginning of the year he only allowed them to work at
desks, but as time progressed he saw who was capable of working around the room. Once the
students were off in their groups, he was able to pull small groups to the back table and help
them throughout the designated assignment. I thought this was a great and creative way to
implement group work. Mr. Hufford definitely uses the room of his space efficiently.

Classroom Layout Question 2: In your opinion, how can the physical arrangement of the room be
improved?
If I were to improve some physical arrangements of the room, I would move the quiet corner
away from the door. Oftentimes when students were using that corner they would become
distracted when their peers walked in from a bathroom break, or water break. Not to mention,
there's a lot of distractions by the quiet corner, since the teacher does his small groups at the
back table. Another physical arrangement I would make to the room to improve the class
would be moving the chromebook station closer to the teachers desk. This would be a great
move because Mr. Hufford could better monitor when students are maneuvering with cords or
anything electrical.
