University of Ibadan Mechanical Engineering Enterprise Competition Framework R1: March 10,
2022

About the Competition

The University of Ibadan Mechanical Engineering Enterprise Competition aims to motivate and reward
enterprise spirit demonstrated by final year university students in the execution of their final year thesis
(project). This will be demonstrated through the identification of innovative technological solutions proposed
to solve real life challenges currently affecting economic development in Nigeria. There are five (5) thematic
areas under study – Security, Environment, Energy, Education and Industrialization. Any innovative
entrepreneurship project addressing one or more challenges in any of the five thematic areas can be
submitted to the Competition.
The competition will consist of two rounds. In Round 1, a short paper (The Abstract, 300 – 500 words)
defining the identified challenge(s) and describing the proposed solution will be submitted. Shortlisted
participants (10 to 15) will proceed to Round 2 where they will make a presentation to the competition panel
midway into their final year. Five (5) highest ranking submissions will be selected for Round 3 (finalists) and
they will be required to submit a presentation or video which will be presented to the Competition panel at
the Final Presentation. Winner(s) will be selected by the panel and announced one week after the final
presentation. First, second and third prizes will be awarded at an award ceremony which will also showcase
the competitors, their supervisors, and projects.
