CTET Educational qualification for Paper 2 (Classes 6 to 8): Elementary Stage Candidates must have cleared the Graduation and also must have cleared or still pursuing the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education from a recognized University/Institution. OR Candidates must have cleared the Graduation (with minimum 50% marks) and passed or appeared in the first year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) from a recognized University/Institution. OR Candidates must have cleared the Graduation (with a minimum of 45% marks) and passed or appeared in 1 year of bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE Regulations in Education (B.Ed). OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and Candidates must have cleared the Graduation of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI-Ed). OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and Candidates must have cleared the Graduation of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A-Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and Candidates must have cleared or appeared in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education). OR Candidates must have cleared the Graduation in B.Ed. No, a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree is not compulsory for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test CTET) exam. However, to be eligible to appear for the CTET exam, the candidate must have a minimum educational qualification of a Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) degree with at least 50% marks and passed or appear in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.E1Ed) or 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). So, while a B.Ed degree is not mandatory, candidates must have the necessary qualifications mentioned above to appear for the CTET exam. Can B.Tech Students Apply for CTET? Yes, B.Tech students can apply for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) if they meet the eligibility criteria set by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The eligibility criteria for appearing in CTET are as follows: For Primary Stage (Classes I to V): The candidate should have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and should have passed or appeared in the final year of a 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.ELEd) or 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.ELEd) or 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*. For Elementary Stage (Classes VI to VII): The candidate should have a graduation degree and should have passed or appeared in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) or 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.ELEd) or 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) Therefore, if a B.Tech student has also completed or is pursuing a teacher education course recognized by NCTE or RCI, they can appear for the CTET exam. *Note: A candidate who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified above can also appear in the CTET. CTET Eligibility: Reservation Criteria For the General category, Candidates who score 60% marks in the examination will be considered qualified. There will be a 5% relaxation of the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for you if you belong to SC/ST/OBC/Person with Disabilities category. A good thing for all the appearing candidates is that there is no negative marking for a wrong attempted question. CTET Eligibility: Number of Attempts There is no restriction on the number of attempts as per the CTET official notification of the previous year.
