changed dramatically in recent years. Global industry consolidation, technology integration, Third party
logistics (3PL) refers to outsourcing transportation, warehousing and other logistics related activities to a
3PL service provider that were originally performed inhouse. More and more corporations across the
world are outsourcing their logistics activities due to various reasons, some of which are outlined below.
Due to globalization, corporations across the world are increasingly sourcing, manufacturing and
distributing on a global scale making their supply chains very complex. Hence, they have to outsource
their logistics activities to experienced 3PL providers, who have global operations. Today’s 3PL providers
with their sophisticated IT capabilities and state-of-the-art transportation and material handling
equipment and warehousing facilities offer complete supply chain Solutions.
Logistics outsourcing is used to complement the logistics activities the corporations do not have
competency in, and also to increase the geographic reach. When a corporation expands business
overseas, it may not be conversant with the customs duties, tax structures, rules and regulations,
import/export policies of the government, and culture of the foreign country. A 3PL provider, who has
long been operating in that country, will be better able to carry out the logistics operations.
Logistics may not be one of the core activities of a corporation. So, inefficiency may creep in if it is
looked upon as a secondary activity. By outsourcing logistics, corporations may focus on their core
competencies. Logistics outsourcing may also reduce costs as the 3PL providers can get the advantage of
the economies of scale, which is otherwise not available to the corporations.
By outsourcing logistics, corporations can reduce their asset base, and deploy the capital released for
other productive usage.
Logistics outsourcing improves cycle time and delivery performance, thereby increasing customer
satisfaction.
Since the 3PL providers are now offering a number of value-added services such as customs clearance,
freight forwarding, import/export management, distribution, after sales support, reverse logistics and so
on, corporations can outsource all these activities, and concentrate on their core business operations.
Due to an incredible growth in electronic retailing since the late 1990’s, many firms around the world
with virtually no distribution systems rely heavily on the 3PL providers for delivery of the merchandise at
the customer’s doorstep. This has resulted in a significant growth in the order fulfillment sector of the
3PL service industry.

OBJECTIVES
A logistics management company is responsible for arranging safe and speedy transportation,
providing warehouse solutions, as well as facilitates the distribution of materials. They also look
after the export and import of goods in some cases as well. These are some of the basic
functions of a 3PL management company.

With the passage of time, some of the well-defined boundaries of logistics are blurring and
logistics providers have added a number of innovation service offers. To make sure that these
are beneficial towards making the supply chain management smoother, improvements and
enhancements have to be constant. Given below are some of the important objectives that 3PL

that the customers are happy and satisfied with the service provided.

are some important things that have to be kept in mind. It is not just enough to achieve the
above-mentioned objectives at a single point of time, but keep on improving them over a

by supplying staff for handling inventory and shipping, and usually offers better prices due to
bulk discounts on packing and other logistics needs.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The type of research is analytical, Data regarding the division of logistics management

such as Freight, Warehousing, Cross-docking, Network Design, etc. in which third party

logistics service provider; Logistics are at present were collected from other similar firms in the
industry.

The primary data was collected through visit at Yash Enteprises Director through a
questionnaire. The secondary data has been collected through the reference of websites, books,
articles, and interviews. The indicators selected are ease of service, customer service, website
information, employee efficiency in general, employee numbers of each firm, a profitable area
in operation, catering location, service offering, product availability, inventory, location, and
customer satisfaction. The data was collected through a questionnaire. Data has been analyzed
through the opinions given by the respondents through the questionnaire. As to my study, I
believe I have selected the right mix of techniques for the comprehensive approach, which can
suit the organization

well.

REVIEW OF LITERATURE
The logistics and supply chain management sector are very informal and fragmented and
most of its actors are not very sophisticated. The informal sector, in this context, means
that they are performing logistics tasks, but almost only with low-tech vehicles and often
without warehouses. Many logistics service providers are consisting of only one or two
persons owning one or two trucks that are not very organized and whose workload is very

Substantial improvements are necessary since logistics can only be managed effectively
when the infrastructure is good. There is a focus on national highway development that
includes expressways, super expressways, and air linkages. Also, the aviation sector has
grown tremendously, but infrastructure related to civil aviation still needs to be

Concerning storage and warehouse-related risks, the fragmented private logistics
companies do not cooperate well along the logistic chains, which makes these risks a big

Since many companies in the manufacturing sector are growing in size, non-core
activities are being outsourced. City-level warehousing is often given to small players
who have their local warehouses, which then outsource warehouse management to other
companies. The transport sector is so fragmented that lots of activities are outsourced to
smaller players which is even increasing with the manufacturing and retail sector growing

fourth-party logistics aroused as a solution for problems of demand
and supply chain, which could be suitable for various kinds of companies. A fourth party
logistics is a service provider which integrates the supply and demand chain for the

Transport is a part of integrated logistics management and is of crucial importance as
such. It is not only limited to the flow of goods across space and is not only a connective
function in the fields of delivery of raw materials for manufacturing needs and for
distributing final products. A well-developed transport system ensures better efficiency, a

SAND :
We provide 8 types of Sands which are followed as:

River Sand
This kind of sand is usually found near river banks and streams. It is a fine quality white-grey
sand used in concrete and masonry work. It can also be used for plastering, brick-works, RCC
etc. This sand has a better grain shape with a smooth texture and demands less moisture since
water is already trapped within its particles. It consists of 5-20% of silt content and is
also budget-friendly.

Concrete Sand
It is a type of sand made from crushed concrete with a mixture of asphalt and cement. It is
crushed in the quarry and filtered to remove large rock fragments. Mixing sand and water with
it reduces its coarseness and is used in levelling base layers, constructing walking paths etc.
Since the grains of this kind of sand is small, it can be used to construct softer pavements. It
provides fundamental rigidity to the base of a building. When mixed with cement and water, the
solid mass can be used to fill the voids between coarse aggregates.
Fill Sand
As the name suggests, this kind of sand is mainly used for filling. It is a combination of sand
grains and aggregates and is a primary base material for laying concrete, filling large holes,
paving etc. Its vital property of showing compassion makes it an unbeatable base material for
building construction. Also, while construction in wet areas, fills sand is a lot more
advantageous as it acts as a backfield to solve drainage problems around septic tanks.

Coarse Sand
The most common type of sand used in constructing buildings in India is coarse sand. It can
easily be mixed with water, aggregate and even cement to form large concrete structures.
Coarse Sand is ideal for bedding pipes and septic systems, as a base material for concrete slabs
or concrete pavers, traction sand for roads and sidewalks, and mixing with topsoil and mulch to
create a top dressing material for planting lawns.

Utility Sand
It is a construction-related sand produced from industrial quads of high quality. Its excellence
quality of compaction and better mechanical features make it a branded construction material.
It can also be used in corrosive environments as they do not easily react. The presence of 100%
natural minerals in its uniformed grain shaped provide long-lasting stability and durability to the
building.
Pit Sand
It is best used for constructing buildings for its superior binding property. Usually found, 2-3
metres underground, pet sand is a core sand type that is obtained naturally from deep pits. The
outstanding binding properties of these sand grains is due to the absence of salts and their non-
reactive nature with the atmospheric moisture. The grains are sharp, angular, rough and coarse
appearing “red-orange” for the presence of iron oxide in it. Buildings made with this sand have
better strength and rigidity.

Fine Sand
The most popular sand used in plastering walls that offers a top-notch finish to each corner of a
house internally is fine sand. Its fine particles make the walls smoother and stronger from the
core. As a result, it holds wall colours more prominently for years. However, fine sand is used
with coarse sand to make the walls more concrete and withstand heavy building structures.

M-Sand
It stands for manufacture sands which is a sand type used in construction in India. It is
manufactured in the factory and plays a substitute role for the river sand for complete
construction. It is demandable good quality sand which is always required for any kind of
construction. It is prepared by crushing and hard-granite for which the transportation cost of
drinking the sand from river beds, gets reduced. The angular sand particles are responsible for
its strength and increase its water demand which can further be compensated by adding
cement content. Being artificially manufactured, it is devoid of sealed and over-sized materials
and impurities. It is easily available in the market and is known to provide better durability and
high tensile strength to the concrete. It also eliminates construction defects and is cost-effective
sand in India, available for construction.
