Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
Welcome to Internet Computing Fundamentals III Module on WORKING WITH
CELLS: Select cell Range, Insert, Delete, Copy, Paste & Cut cell contents.
This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and
reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor,

developing this instructional resource.
This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.
In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the
body of the module:

Notes to the Teacher

will help you in guiding the learners.

As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this
module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to
manage their own learning. Moreover, you are expected to encourage and assist the
learners as they do the tasks included in the module.
For the learner:

Welcome to the Internet Computing Fundamentals III Module on WORKING

WITH CELLS: Select cell Range, Insert, Delete, Copy, Paste & Cut cell contents.

WORKING WITH CELLS

Cells are the basic worksheet building blocks. To measure, evaluate, and organize
data in Excel, you'll need to know the fundamentals of cells and cell material. This
chapter will help you understand well how to work with cells.

WHAT IS A CELL?
 It is the box-like structure where you enter data.
 It is where a row and column meet.
 There are more than 17 billion cells on a worksheet in Excel.
 Data such as Text, numbers, or formulas are entered in cells.

COLUMN
 It is a vertical group of cells within a worksheet.
 Columns are classified by letters A, B, C…
 There are 16,384 XFD columns in a worksheet

ROW
 It is a horizontal group of cells within a worksheet.
 Rows are classified by numbers 1, 2, 3…
 There are 1,048,576 rows in a worksheet

CELL ADDRESS
 Each cell has its own name based position in the worksheet.
 For example, the selected cell intersects column C and row 5, so the cell address
is C5.
 Cell address appears in the Name box in the top-left corner

NAMEBOX

ACTIVE CELL

ACTIVE CELL
 It is the currently selected cell, the one in which you can enter data.
 It is easily identified by its border highlighted in green.
CELL RANGE
 It is a collection of two or more cells.
 It is a group of cells within a row or column.
