poet of the universe

A glance of some one has elevated Iqbal

The people have been fascinated by Iqbal

O stars, tell to where has departed Iqbal

The region of wisdom has easily been crossed by Iqbal

But in the kingdom of love has been entrapped Iqbal

Worthy teachers and dear audience,

Every year when 9th November comes around, it reminds us of the

significant and utterly beautiful day when a child took birth in
Sialkot. The one who changed not only the government set up in
India but infused a new spirit among the Muslims of the sub
continent. It was Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal who appeared in this
mysterious world with such a sensitive soul keeping the ability to
dig deeper and deeper into the real nature of this ever changing
world and with the eyes far reaching beyond the blue skies and
searching the secrets of eternity.

Iqbal had a unique, graceful and incomparable style of poetry both

in Urdu and Persian languages. He was called the poet of the east.
He didn’t write poetry for the sake of poetry but to improve the
status of man, as he says in his persian verse:
“I seek no pleasure of song, my poetry is a device by which I try to
bring the strayed and uncontrolled camel of my nation to the herd.”

He, no doubt, tried hard to awake his nation that was lying spiritless
in the chains of slavery. The central topic of his poetry is “the man”,
he tries his best to make man realise his capabilities. “Khudi” the
realization of oneself, is his main symbol. A strong Self evolves
with strong belief. Iqbal found that most of the nations had forgotten
the real spirit of Islam. They lacked self-esteem, self-respect, true
faith. In his book Zarb-e-Kaleem, (Marg-e-Khudi), He saw the state
of failed humanity plagued with miseries and pathetic state of affairs
owing to the absence of khudi. Here Iqbal felt pain for the entire
humanity.
He says in one of his poems that a thinking poet is like an eye of the
nation, whenever there is any problem in any part of the body, the
eyes start to show pain in form of tears. Similarly, a poet feels the
pain of the nation. This day is just reminding us of the pain of
Allama Iqbal would have been excruciating if he would have been
alive today to see the state of Pakistan.

Dear teachers and my lovely audience,

The poetry of Iqbal is bursting with messages of hope, unity,
brotherhood and peace. Now it is up to us to be benefited by his
precious message and make the world a living paradise.
I end my speech with these lines:

Iqbal gave the message of peace and love

He wanted us to be as innocent as dove
There is all around war terror and bloodshed
Let us make the world green, but not red.
