ENTERPRISE BUILDS ON PEOPLE

SUMMARY
• Enterprise “Rent-A-Car” gained competitive advantage over other giants, Hertz and Avis
with sales of $6.3 billion and employed over 50,000 people. The enterprise targeted
occasional renters while Hertz and Avis targeted business travelers. It located stores in
downtown by also providing local pickup and delivery service with lower price compared
to the other competitors. They pursued 2 strategies,

• 1. Locating stores near airports – competition to other firms

• 2. Expand into international markets

• Human resource strategy played as another key for the firm’s success by hiring
college graduates who was an athlete or active social participant. They are expected to
work long for low pay and must follow formal attire. The job provided an opportunity
for low grade students and working hard may help them climb up the corporate ladder
as the enterprise doesn’t hire outsiders. Working in a successful and growing enterprise
is better than doing nothing.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL STRATEGIES


• The strategies that the enterprise use is to locate their car rental shops to downtown
and suburban areas.

• They make various contracts with local insurance companies to lower the rates of car
rental services compared to firms like hertz and Avis base.

• The enterprise recruit those candidates Who were Athletes and actively involved in
campus activities because they believe that they can gain challenges in car rental
industry.

• For appraisal company will give to those employees within the organisation Who works
hard perform their best job and achieve the organizational goals. By these strategies
employees working in the car rental enterprise can be succeed and get appraisal from
their manager.

1. Would enterprises approach to HRM work in other industries?

 Yes, we are having practical examples these days like HUL,IBM- Daksh, Infosys, LPU,
Maruti Suzuki and many more organizations.

 Whatever the sector is, every organization work on this approach.

 This is the first step of the success.

 Without HRM any organization would not able to work in a smooth and systematic
manner.

 Thus, HRM approach is a must in any industry/organization.

2. Does enterprise face any risks from its Human Resource Strategies?

• No , the strategy which is used by the HR it was very success and through these
strategies enterprise growth up in international markets

•  Like right recruitment process and targeting right people for the growth of the
enterprise. And also giving good training and development for the employees and using
of cost effective way in the enterprise

• Today there are training sessions held for new comers to tell them what to do and in
what manner.

3. Would you want to work for enterprise?

 Yes. I would like to work for enterprise because it has overtaken the industry giant and
its biggest competitor in small amount of time with its strategies.

 Also enterprise has a healthy attitude towards its employees as well as customers.

CONCLUSION
• A service-orientated business like Enterprise must deliver perfect service every time to
keep customers satisfied. An unhappy customer is unlikely to come back.
• Enterprise operates in a highly competitive marketplace. In order to continue its growth
and expansion, Enterprise focuses on delivering very high levels of customer
satisfaction.
• Its strategy of recruiting people with the right skills and competencies helps the
business to carry out its aims and objectives.
• In order to keep these key skills in the business, Enterprise provides continuing
development and training for its people as they progress along a long-term career
